There's a bit in this morning's Chronicle about the lasting impact Paul Conway has had on the club

Our overall playing budget was in the top 5 in the division.
BUT, if you remove the salaries of just Iseka and Oulare it takes us down to roughly the 11th biggest budget in L1.

I think this shows what a massive proportion of a limited budget was wasted on these two and ultimately what a great achievement finishing 4th and making it to the play off final has been.

And what an absolute idiot Con-his-way was.
Let's hope that people like him never darken our doors again. Literally took the club backwards 5 years.
Thankfully there was enough good people around to do something about it, hopefully the recovery will continue and return the feel good factor to oakwell.

Christ on a bike, that's mental. I'm guessing that they must have been on something like £8k a week each.

Well the good news is, Oulare's finally off it. Hopefully Iseka follows suit.

He took the club back 5 years in the space of a few months. I think he had the best intentions with the signings of Oulare and Iseka. However his knowledge of the sport appears to be lacking so much, that he should never have put himself in that position to start with. Everyone involved in that relegation season above playing level were grossly negligent.

Are we sure we aren't still part-paying these clowns while they are "off the books"? I doubt they accepted a much lower deal that they were already on.

I'm sure we could do something with Iseka but not sure if he has the gumption for a season in League One.

Think it also shows what a great job the recruitment team and Khaled (and others)have done since.

Conman ruined us never trusted him but some on here wouldn't have a bad thing said about him and Lee.

We'll have paid Oulare off, though I doubt it would've been the full value of his contract, otherwise they could've just let him train on his own until the end of next season. Vaguely recall some mention in the company accounts where specific losses were attributed to failed signings (@Archerfield might know more on that?)

We'll be stuck with Iseka for at least one more year. Seems to be more realistic to be able to offload players once they get into their last year, and he still has 2 years left.

Iseka is on 10k a week and that’s before bonus’. He also had no wage deduction for relegation.

The most idiotic signings in BFC history.

I'm pretty sure he won't have landed any bonuses. Every cloud and all that...

There'll be some 'bonuses' that he'll get regardless. Players tend to get an extra payment every year. Pretty sure it's laughably called a loyalty bonus!

Details of any settlement should come through the accounts to May 2023 which are normally issued the following February.

The write off of any transfer fee will appear in impairment of intangible assets.

    I really am dull….

It's possible to have a bonus such as if the club makes a play off final during the length of your contract for example. Even if you contribute nothing to it!
Not saying this is the case, but it's a possible

Yeah should have signed up Whiteman to replace Mowatt, kept Chaplin and gone with what we had already. Oh and not employed the Geography teacher.

I know there's a separate Iseka thread but that was Duff's only mistake. I'm certain Iseka would have been a better option than a Shaw who didn't play, Martin and Watters.

The tiny bit I've seen of Iseka he looked half decent.
