Whenever I've weighed it up it seems very much to depend on how many miles you are going to do. Less than 10k/year possibly. More than that probably not.
Depends on the price obviously. One of ours is currently a lease, the price was so cheap it was a no brainer.
You have to compare apples to apples if u know what i mean. Compared to buying one on PCP I think its a no brainer. Comparing it to buying a banger... its not. Ive leased one for the bread knife for years and its allowed us to have several nice cars that otherwise I wouldnt be able to afford. Think a lot of it comes down to your mentality regarding 'its never yours'.. if u do the math, its easy to see if it works but not if your comparing it to buying a ford focus thats 8 years old for example
I've leased for the last 8 years and it's a way to have a new car fairly cheap. I've not been bothered what I've got since I've picked something that was priced 'cheap' at the time. I've had a Polo GTi and a Leon Cupra, both were coming to model change so they were less money to get than the standard models. I couldn't afford to put down a large deposit on something and pay per month so it's usually around 1k deposit and then i paid £173 for Polo, £235 for Cupra and I've now got an electric Corsa e at £275 a month. The car is never mine and i know that but i can afford the monthly cost and the small deposit so it's nice to have a new car every 2/3 years
I think that the car never being yours is the best bit! Repairs and maintenance are ridiculously expensive these days, especially for premium brands.
I've leased for over 10 years now. I doubt I'll ever go back to 'owning' a car. I genuinely cba with the hassle associated with owning a car. Buying, selling, negotiating, loans, blah blah blah. I'm sure if I did the sums, someone might be able to show the total cost was more with lease. But it definitely won't be massively more. Certainly not enough for me to take on all the hassle of owning a car. Last car was a lease, but I went back onto my work's salary sacrifice scheme in September. So now it's all inclusive. Worth every penny for me. All I have to worry about is plugging it in every night.
Been quoted £270 a month over 4 years, 8k miles a year which is probably a little under, paying 3 months in advance. Brand new mid-range Nissan Juke (debate over my sensuality aside!!)
Having owned a Nissan previously from new, the only way you'd get me back in one is through leasing! I had a Qashqai from new. Lovely to drive, but started collapsing after 3 years with only 40k on the clock!
https://www.whatcar.com/car-leasing/deals/ Should give you an idea of what is available. My local dealer has always matched or bettered any deal I've found.
Yeh no problem at all, I've had Select Car Leasing, they've got the biggest oomph when it comes to getting good deals from manufacturers, they can get upto 30% off VW/VAG. Then i had Nationwide Vehicle Contracts and the one i have now is Vanarama. You have to shop round really cause some have better deals than others and just bare in mind at the minute it's all gone up!!
If you work out the price per mile over the yearly amount sometimes it's better being under. My Cupra was 5.4p so 1000 miles was £54 so it was cheaper than getting 10k and it only had 12k when it went back back for 8k a year
Also look at the charges if you miss a service etc. Our current lease is a two year one, penalty for missing the service is £50, so obviously not worth having it done.
Colleague sent his Skoda Octavia back after the lease expired. Once they had totted up the dilapidations; dents, scrapes etc it cost him £1500 extra!
