If we do offer Collins an extension. The ball is firmly in his court. The only reason we will hang on to him imo is if he turns it down. we dont have a capable replacement. (Re Isted it's a case of wait and see but I dont think we'll hang around too long)
That's why I think they'll hold on to him for definite if Isted doesn't sign for us. I meant an extension to his current one. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.
So did Rooney he was only 15. Isted is 26. Good enough, you keep your place. And the only way to get experience is by playing. they all go through that. But experience doesn't necessarily mean you are the better player. Or am I missing summat. That's in all walks of life.
Its funny you saying that Hooky kid lol, because I never rated Jovo Bosancic!!. Yes, that's thrown a spanner into the ointment hasn't it.
Think I will be on my own with this one, I have never rated Collins & always preferred Walton & when Isted came in he showed all the qualities in a goalkeeper I like, he owns his box , he claims the ball by catching & not flapping, the defence trust him & his reflex saves are superb , yes he is inexperienced in game terms & makes the odd mistake but we are a third division team with third division players & that is what he is but he is dammed good at this level & i much prefer him to the time wasting flapper what Collins has turned into , get him signed & let Collins get on with his career elsewhere .
No you're not. there are more than plenty agree. (I definitely hear far more of what you are saying. When I go to games than I actually see on here) I genuinely have not heard one put Collins above Isted (But are happy to have him, fair enough ) and quite a few that preferred Walton over Collins me included. But I imo the difference was more debatable i get that. But not in my view Isteds case. Go and get him Khaled.
The more I look at the goal at Wembley, the more I do keep wondering how he failed to keep it out. It wasn't placed into the corner, and he/Isted only got a weak hand on it. But that doesn't make him a bad keeper, and its the same with the other mistakes that have been pointed out. Hes done far more good things in his time with us, and I thought Duff was right to stick with him till the end of the season.
Seems to be a polarising question this one! On the evidence I've seen, I think Collins is a better bet than Isted right now. Collins has played and done very well for us in the Championship, even when we were struggling the season before last. Isted has had a very decent, though by no means flawless, 4 months on loan. That isn't to say Isted didn't do well for us, or that he won't have a better career than Collins in the future, but I personally do not understand why we've created a situation where Collins will now be almost certain to leave because he hasn't been first choice and has one year left on his deal, and that we don't have another keeper signed up for next season. At best, we've devalued the fee we'll get for selling Collins this summer because he hasn't been playing. If those in the game that matter disagree with me and think that they're at similar levels or that Isted is a better keeper, that rather blows a hole in the suggestions on this thread that we should sign Isted and sell Collins to turn a profit. If you're a Championship or higher level League 1 club and looking for a keeper, than in that case you'd sign Isted on a free rather than paying a fee for Collins. If that's the case, then again we've done ourselves over by giving exposure and experience to a keeper that then prevents us from gaining a fee from one of our assets. If Isted signs in the coming days and Collins leaves (with or without a fee), I'll still be happy that we have a decent keeper for this level, but I struggle to see how it's a step forward from where we were in January when we had Collins and Walton.
I said the same - he had a great game, but on another day, that goal is stopped. Being critical, but it’s correct.
All keepers make mistakes. Courtois and Alison each made a real howler in the same Champions League game. De Gea and Lloris have made a succession of errors this last season. Is that why they are playing for Real Madrid, Liverpool, Man United and Spurs?
I must admit, I thought Isted would be our first signing otherwise why not play our actual keeper?I personally think it's an easier choice now we're still in div 1. Another season under Harry's belt and he'll hopefully be ready for the championship. If I could choose one it would be Brad but Harry's been more than a capable replacement during his injury and obviously will improve.
He pushed the ball into the net but it wasn’t a weak hand that caused it, he got to the ball late and was fractionally behind him when he made contact, it’s not clear when you see the goal again. If you take this video as an example you can’t see it on the first two but can on the last. https://www.skysports.com/watch/vid...indass-wins-promotion-for-sheffield-wednesday
Rubbish , Isted didn"t time waste from the first whistle, are we saying that a time wasting instruction was issued to Collins & not Isted ? plus Collins would still dally when we were losing .
Prefer Brad Collins, don't know why we would just discard a championship standard keeper that isn't even in his prime yet
Collins wouldn't even have got his hands to it, he'd have been rooted to the spot and just watched it go in; like he did many a time earlier in the season.
