Recommendation was a 90 day suspension but as he has run away its now saying dont let him back in the commons

Report pretty damning as expected though some of his supporters arent happy

Hope its the last we see of the ****

The parallels with the orange one are remarkable.

Bit embarrassing for the hardcore lockdowners who supported his draconian measures though innit? Between this and the Commons inquiry on pandemic preparedness no wonder they're keeping a low profile.

The funniest part is that the draft report recommended a "suspension that could lead to a recall" - so 10 days in a copy that was confidential. By leaking the report and attacking the committee in his resignation statement, they increased it to 90 days and the removal of his pass *and* there is going to be another report into his supporters attacking the committee - including at least one MP today.

Why would anyone who thought lockdown was necessary be embarrassed that he has been punished for breaking the rules and lying about it?

You don't think a policy is completely undermined when the individual who implemented it thinks so little of its importance that they flagrantly ignore it?

“in light of Mr Johnson’s conduct in committing a further contempt on 9 June 2023, the Committee now considers that if Mr Johnson were still a Member he should be suspended from the service of the House for 90 days for repeated contempt's and for seeking to undermine the parliamentary process.”

That is one f*cking disgraceful apostrophe. Whoever wrote the committee report needs 90 days suspension from typing for contempt of the English language.

Possibly people have had enough of the same raking over things time & time again when there are a lot more serious problems going on in the world , just my opinion, I am not interested in politics & when I switch the news on I want to know what is currently happening in the real world & not old news being dragged up time & time again .

There were no 'hardcore lockdowners'. Some people thought that more should've been done to suppress the spread of the illness, and earlier, whilst also disagreeing with Government policy as a whole (also taking into account things like testing, ppe etc...).

Your obsession with turning multiple threads into something about lockdown is a bit odd. But more worryingly, the reducing of a debate into a binary pro or against something, regardless of context or nuance is the tactic of many a right wing grifter.

Should it be plural contempts anyway? Not incorrect but sounds clumsy IMO. Better English would surely be " ....for repeatedly showing contempt"

It’s not old news though. The report has only just been released into the public domain. I certainly don’t want this confined to the archives, at least not until all those who are ‘guilty’ so to speak have been appropriately dealt with. Don’t forget there are plenty out there who either don’t think anything was wrong, and/or it doesn’t really matter, or who would simply follow the idiot off a cliff edge no matter what.

He was the epitome of what an overdeveloped sense of self entitlement can lead to. His whole background, upbringing, education and working environment made him genuinely feel he was above it all, and believed that he was so important that all the lies were inconsequential in the grand scheme. It helps when you surround yourself with 'yes men'. That is exactly what Thatcher did (like Putin does) and that is to remove or sideline anyone who has a backbone and might derail your grand plans by saying 'no' from time to time and worse, come up with a bettert idea and steal your limelight.

Less embarrassing following guidelines set by the powers that be and supposed scientific medical advise. Not his. (Although he went against some of it.)
Than voting brexit based on a sign on a bus I would imagine that was HIS decision according to Farage. (Who criticised him. calls it a failure, but would join up with him again.) Farage by the way also Sticking up for Trump. In his words "you stand by your friends" what an absolute Bell end.

    Such is life.
