It is a good job - but if they're making such bad decisions in a meaningless game, imagine how bad they'll be (as we've witnessed, actually...) when there is something big to play for and they're under pressure. Terrible decision
Whatever...3 nil up at HT but the 2nd half was a borefest. Tippy tappy and we showed little inventiveness. We huffed and puffed to break down a team ranked 172 in the World. What a contrast to Pep Guardiola's approach. Southgate stands there with a face like a wet weekend. Hardly inspiring or motivating. No doubt we'll get all the comments... 'you can only beat what is put in front of you', 'we were not fielding our strongest side', 'The game was won by half time' etc. I try hard but I really can't warm to Southgates style of play even if he is relatively successful as far as recent England managers go. I can only imagine what Guardiola could do with the calibre of players he would have at his disposal.
Every time there’s a VAR referral for handball, I reckon they should play the Burton decision on loop.
