Don't worry about it. I hope he stays but I've become numb to this sort of thing been a barnsley fan. Whatever will be will be. Like I've said just either appoint within or a head coach with similar style, keep to the same recruitment and we will hopefully be okay. Let's just hope he shows some loyalty.

Done deal now according to a Swansea fan on twitter who put up the original news that Swansea were targeting Duff.

As long as he doesn't take every one of the backroom staff with him like Val did then we should be OK. I remember Luton fans seething when Nathan Jones took off, look at them now. We've got a good set of lads on the books so even if Martin Devaney took over, I'd expect us to be challenging next season.

If it's another two million compo then that's good business.

Is it that Jordan Webber? He’s given 2 other people the job in the last week. I’ll wait for the announcement.

It's annoying isn't it mate (I know Redrum was jesting).. Get ready for the old 'Adam Hammill in a coaching capacity', Conor Hourihane player/manager, Stendel, Redders etc etc.

So much for the crap he spouted on being appointed, that he loved a project and was in it for the long haul.
I honestly thought Michael Duff was different, a throw back to the old days, a breath of fresh air.
Looks like he was no different to the rest of the chancers in the game today.

His source is "someone who knows someone in the Barnsley community". I'm not going doom and gloom just yet.

Whilst I will agree if (seemingly it is) true, let's wait before making comments like this. He genuinely convinced me what he was saying about loyalty and commitment was true, so fingers crossed.

Might want to save the vitriol until he's actually left. Until its announced its still just a rumour.

I’ll gladly take it back if he stays but let’s be honest.
    He’s leaving…..

I don't think it's anywhere near that; 6 figures I've heard, which seems more believable.

I get that Mickey can't turn down the cash. I get that Mads can't either. And probably ditto the club. But how do we grow as a club when we constantly go back to square one?

I understand his anger tbh. Not the words I would choose today, but I would have once upon a time. I genuinely feel for anyone who emotionally invested in him. I’ve been there, and it hurts. I felt the same as him when Heckingbottom left. I vowed I’d never get attached to another manager ever again. They’re every bit as ambitious as players, and just as loyal. I’m fine with that now, I’ve come to terms with it. But it works both ways. They can’t then expect loyalty from fans when they’re struggling. The next manager gets one season from me, to get us promoted. If he finishes top 6 and just misses out, he’ll get poached as well. If he finishes outside top 6, he gets sacked.

I find it incredible people expected him to be here next year when you consider the job he's done. Hoped, yes but expected is crackers.

Brilliant manager, going to a proper football club with genuine Prem ambitions. He'd be crackers to say no, and the same ones bleating on here now would be wanting him gone after 5 bad results.

We have to be prepared for this eventuality. We have to have a succession plan. We have to have a process to identify and recruit the next Michael Duff. Its all we can do. Its football, we shouldn't be surprised by any of this but we should be prepared IF he does leave. Its not too hard to have predicted this scenario so Id expect us to be prepared, to a degree.

I think you're exaggerating somewhat in terms of wanting him out, we're not the Wendies! And given that it was him that spoke of loyalty and projects then I can see why folk might feel let down.
