Bolton have brought in a keeper to replace Trafford, and about to announce another signing. Meanwhile, we're waiting for Southampton and Swansea to tell us whether we have a head coach or not. But as Khaled said in his interviews, "we're in control"
Good for them. Downed tools at Morecambe by all accounts and only put in any effort to put himself in the shop window. Not the sort of player I'd want to sign.
Agreed. Know plenty of Morecambe lads who said same thing. Some on here made repeated calls to go get him - I'd like to confirm I wasn't in that camp
7 of his 11 league goals last season came in the final 4 games of the season. Don't get me wrong, in the right side, he might have another 20+ goal season, but it's a gamble.
I"m not sure what point you are trying to make, what has Bolton signing a goalie got to do with Swansea & Southampton sorting out their managerial positions & the possible implication of Duff ? you have lost me
Other clubs are getting on with getting their squads together, while we're being hampered by the uncertainty around Duff.
We've signed one player, got a second one lined up, and haven't yet lost anyone of note. And we're not even in pre-season yet.
Not sure yet apart from the loan players going back who we need to replace, but players , agents , managers etc are on their leave period, although I am sure there is plenty going on behind the scenes at every club , we have already made one signing & no doubt the managerial merry go round hampers the situation but the one thing I am not too concerned about is our current squad , players will leave & some will come in but I do not think it will be a big turn around as in previous years .
So you honestly don’t believe that the apparent imminent departure of our head coach will be a hindrance to any negotiations we are having with players, as suggested by one of the bbc Sheffield lot?
It might do, but it hasn't happened yet. I try not to concern myself with something which might not happen. Whilst Radio Sheffield are usually spot on with their reporting, Isted has been on holiday whilst this whole Duff saga has been playing out (and I believe he still is) , so I find it hard to believe that he's informed them, or someone has informed them that he only intends to sign if Duff is still here. It just doesn't make sense. What is certain for the time being at least, is that Duff is Barnsley manager, Andersen is a Barnsley player, Istead is seemingly close to deciding his future and we've publicly said we've put an offer to him and he's interested in a return, we've signed Kacper Lopata, and it's not even pre-season yet.
In terms of being a hindrance, it has already happened according to Staton: "Knock-on effect of possible Michael Duff to Swansea move, understand it's impacting Harry Isted's possible return to Oakwell and situation is up in the air at the moment". We would've had a far better chance to have his signing wrapped up, if we knew that Duff was staying. I fear your last sentence will need a considerable rewrite in a week or so's time.
