If Barton gets the job my season ticket will be going in whatever the digital equivalent of the shredder is.
If Duff is leaving, I would give the job to Devaney, if he doesn't follow Duff. After the excellent performances of last season, I think it is important to maintain some continuity. Surely Devaney, having worked alongside Duff, is the man to encourage a continuation of the same style of play and to motivate the players in the same way Duff did.
I don't think Devaney would take the job. Strikes me he's extremely busy walking round local supermarkets all day.
Would like to see us be the first men’s club to employ a woman as head coach. Could be a commercially savvy thing to do too, and surely it is an untapped market of talent.
I would hope that, having observed Duff at work, he would be able to inspire the players in the same way. There is no guarantee of that, but what we do not need is a complete change from last season, which was so near to being a hugely successful one.
I concur. Anderson leaves a big hole and we really struggled (possibly lost?) all games he did not play in last season. However, with a decent replacement (perhaps he is already in the building - although I think some experience Solbaeur style would be good) plus a shrewd signing up front then there is absolutely no reason why we can't succeed next season. The methodology has been drilled into them. I sensed that our style under Duff is quite formulaic and so Devaney should be in a good position to continue his brilliant work. Duff is an inspirational, no-nonsense character who would clearly be missed but I think my point is amongst this rambling, that what we do not need is a massive change. We need continuity. On another forum I was just suggesting uploading all of Trumps speeches and social media outbursts into TrumpGPT so it could take over the world... But could we get away with a guy in a suit as the face and the output from ChatGPT making all the decisions?
