Surely he's worth more than 5mil now. How much does a Championship striker who bags 20 goals and carries a team to the Premier League typically cost?
That was kind of my point. His value will go up massively, having achieved more, and scored more goals for Luton in a season, than he did in his season and a half for us. While I was hoping we could get a bit more for him last summer, I thought the sale was disappointing rather than daylight robbery. A combined fee of slightly over 3m for Morris and Brittain isn't bad though.
They would get more than 5 million for him now. Could be worth alot more depending on how he takes to the prem. Millwall would get 5 million for bradshaw.
Yes, the more players do to prove their quality, the more they become worth in the transfer market (age, contract and selling club’s circumstances permitting). Dont think millwall would get 5m for Bradshaw though.
Probably not he's 30 now. But 17 goals last season in the Championship and 9 goals in 24 Championship games the season before isn't bad.
Every football article that espouses a certain club having the lowest or near lowest budget in a league … it’s always self-reported and always bunk. In the run up to the Championship final I swear I read articles saying that Luton had the lowest and the Coventry had the lowest - and that’s in a league with Rotherham. And Blackpool. Its all small club reverse penis envy.
Yes, in the Chronicle. The stat was that we had the 5th highest budget, but that went down to 11th when you took Oulare and Iseka out of the equation. Though Khaled has also since said that any money saved from Oulare's release won't necessarily be put back into the playing budget
I like the post from @Gally explaining that Khaled is correct in claiming we have the 12th largest wages budget so long as we don't include players that take us above that. Similarly, I'm the most handsome man on our street, so long as I don't include those gentlemen who are much better looking than me. And I'm the richest, discounting all those with more money than me.
Clubs were queuing up for Helik, numerous bids were turned down, Huddersfield was accepted because he didn't want to move out of the area.
So, your point is what exactly? We turned bids down, from clubs that the player didn't want to go to, and we were left with only one bidder that we could actually sell the player to? Not sure how we could be expected to drive the price up in that situation?
He wanted his Poland place though, so he'd have to have moved areas of we didn't accept the Huddersfield bid.
I said over £5 million alone i.e.could be £10 million, I was using that figure quoted i.e £5 million for 5 players, as the analogy 14 goals was good in a very poor season and who says we got £2 million for him anyway. Could have been Helik £2 million or £1.5 million each.
You joking? Conman and chien sold pinnock for 2.5 million that was criminal and keiffer Moore for 3 million
I don't know what the obsession is with been the youngest squad and only 1 player allowed over 30. No wonder Duff thought f*** it. Can Khaled go with him? (55&counting foaming at the mouth after reading this)
A lot more than what this board has sold Morris, Helik etc for... £6.5m for two players when you quote Moore's real transfer fee https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/16856/reds-sell-moore-to-wigan
We had just been relegated and lost 11 million. Your abit over a barrell when that happens. With keiffer and pinnock we had just been promoted sold our top scorer 5 days before the window shut for peanuts with 2 years left on his contract. And one of the best ball playing center backs I've seen at oakwell for 2.5 million both now premier league players.
https://www.gloucestershirelive.co....arnsleys-former-forest-green-defender-3045295 Need to add another 500k for the Pinnock fee as well so £7m ain't that bad for two players fresh out of League 1.
Totally agree, most teams need at least a few experienced heads, we stayed in the championship for years on the back of some old heads.
Totally agree, it should be about having the best squad we can afford via free transfers, loans etc, not the youngest. The aim in league 1 should be promotion and nothing else.
