I get that I guess it's all down to money if our player budget was 12th in the league I assume Duff pay packet reflected that if Swansea are paying top half championship money it's a no brainer. Nowt we as fans can do other support our team.
I guess it's how likely that is. Easier said than done I suppose, for ex-managers to just slot back into the backroom. Lots of shuffling required, and you probably find once they've had a taste of the gaffer's role, they don't really want anything else. But I do know what you mean.
Having read Khaled's Swedish interview, then there's no wonder Duff's about to leave. He's been working with one hand tied behind his back by sticking to the stipulations on age and youth that were laid down. No wonder players like Moon, Wolfe, Marsh, Helliwell, Jalo etc were being given unexpected game time. It was written into his contract that he had to give 2000 minutes to academy players (22 games). I would imagine that most managers would like a free reign on team selection.
Me too. Hard to see it happening now, especially as a few players might now want to leave. Can see Duff coming back for Connell for one. Yet another rebuild is on the cards.
That's entirely possible as there's rumors that Russell Martin wants to raid Swansea for Grimes and one of the other CMs they have when he eventually gets to Southampton.
And unless he has a flat near Swansea, he'll spend more time in his car than he did with us, so I'm not sure if he will see more of his family; you can't zoom call while your driving along the M4 (maybe on the M50?).
Patterson or Disco might be the ideal candidates so that we get some continuity. The players will understand their methods and probably enjoy their coaching The two best managers in my lifetime were Norman Hunter and Danny Wilson. Both of them promoted from within.
As were Johnny Steele, Andy Ritchie & Paul Heckingbottom. All were promoted from within, all won promotion.
Only if Paterson wants to go. Would he rather be number 1 here or number 2 in Swansea. Wade Elliott wouldn't come to Oakwell and ended up with the Cheltenham job.
Suppose this is what Cheltenham fans felt like last year. Cruel game football. But that's all it is, a game.
Daniel Stendell never complained about the distance between work and home. I’d have back in a second. If not there’s a lot to be said for a Disco/Eaden combo
He was in charge at Cheltenham for three seasons. Any coach stays here for that long would probably get a testimonial.
To be honest I skip read most of it so apologies if I've got that wrong. The point is still valid though in that he had to pick so many academy players to fit the brief.
I suspect most, if not all of that will be met in the Pizza cup. Would be an issue if we were in the Championship though. Given the starting 11 that pretty much picked itself included no academy products, I'd say the brief must've been fairly flexible
