No damage done with me , if he is in charge at Oakwell next season I for one would be delighted , top manager .
I imagine the 500k equates to something like the remainder of his contract, which seems like a fair representation of value. The thing that people absolutely have to acknowledge, is that clauses are now part of modern day contracts, and will often be a factor in whether players or managers join a Club. If Barnsley had said 'we're insisting on a 2m compensation clause' it's quite possible he wouldn't have joined us in the first place. If people want us to insist on prohibitive clauses, they should realise it will limit who we can attract.
When did anyone, player or manager, ever join a club and say "I reckon I'm only here for a season. If I do well I'll be able to jump ship, if I do badly I'll be kicked out quicker than you can say P45's in the post"? He's got to say he's here for the 'project', to take the long view.
Eaden’s bar closed today due to unforeseen circumstances. Nicky has gone to Swansea with his family to scout a new house out…
Ah well, back to the first team half-@rsing around and not getting fit and not having a plan and us being cack.....
I think anyone left feeling gloomy about this twitter rumour should cheer themselves up by laying in a bath of beans with a beard of bees and a bowl of boiling bovril.
I appreciate that contractual obligations meant that the club probably can't say too much about Long-Haul's imminent departure, but the complete media silence on it is genuinely unforgivable. Given all the lengths they went to last season to improve fan engagement and how the fans stepped up when needed, it's utterly bizarre they think it's okay to treat us like this. Just confirm/deny the interest, ffs. Whatever happens, you can bet your house on us not hearing it from BFC first...
