That would be quite a left field appointment, although the sort of thing I wouldn't necessarily be unhappy with. I'm just not sure now is the right time for someone with no experience of either playing or managing above 5th tier level. With the squad we've got, fans are quite rightly expecting us to be challenging for the title next season. That's a lot of pressure for an inexperienced manager to be under.

If we don’t take a chance on a young manager ,this situation will occur every year

Im happy to take a chance on a young manager, but one with at least some senior management experience, this would be like putting the YTS boy in charge of the whole company

Billy Sharp - got all his coaching badges but not quite ready to hang up his boots. Shades of Allan Clarke Mk 1.

So one manager is the benchmark? It would be a huge risk and one that could maybe work, but it could also massively backfire, I don’t think the board would take that risk. I think Poya led the way on that one

Ok agree to disagree but with us having a young squad never better time to give young manager a chance, even if it’s not lad I said, hope it’s not someone who been round the block and failed a dozen times

I completely agree, we need someone who has a proven record, but it has to be at the right level. It’s a massive risk to take someone from the lower leagues and someone that is so young, but I want Barnsley to be successful and get out of this league asap, we need someone who is capable of that, and also forward looking.

If the club go for anyone without experience at this level. Get ready for the meltdown on here. Be worse than fowlstalk.

It depends if the club are .. all out.. for top two next season (if they where why would MD have f'ecked off) if so even on the short term we'd have to pay for a Moore/Wilder.
Or do we 'again' go for a 2-3 year project man. Don't forget Duff was one of them that over achieved. Will the board think that lightning can strike twice.
Going to be another project man for me and the board will be hoping for said lighting.
