I think it's a bit facile to refer to him as a proven success on the basis of last season. Yes they went up, but they had the highest wage bill, almost completely bottled it due to his inability to find a plan B, and were a competent referee away from not going up, at which point the "proven success" would have been an "abject failure"
Not totally based just on just last season, his combined managerial record to date. I don't see what the wage bill has to do with it, vast majority of those players are on seriously inflated wages and doesn't reflect their ability. He did an amazing job with limited players.
He had the biggest wage bill yes but like said some of those players were on inflated salarys, take Lee Gregory rumored to be on 12k a week scored less than devante Cole. People underestimate how hard it is to get out of this league it took sheffield United 6 season with the biggest budget every season and Sunderland 3. He's done well everywhere he has been. Could do alot worse than Moore as none of the current favourites look good to me.
I'd have no issue with a moore / devaney I'd have no issue with a combo of devaney and eaden. I'd rather that than bring in someone who doesn't know the club and is starting totally afresh. We need to hit the ground running this season and not be hampered by a bad start or left behind after 10 or 15 games and playing catch up. Either way, we need to get our skates on and move
Why , we could do a lot worse . Continuity with the high press ,coached the young uns before become assistant to Duffy. Been at the club 8 years ,lives locally. Won't need to change much with the coaching sessions seen as he would have ran them under Duff. Nothing to lose if he fails he goes back to coaching the lads. No fee to release him. I'm sure he won't jump ship after 12 months .
No idea how to post tweets, but this chap is hearing it'll be an internal appointment Sorry if posted elsewhere Edit: oh it worked. Just pasted the link. Clever!
Not a clue, Conway appointed him then, it wasn’t the only signing he did that didn’t make sense This new board appointed a manager with a pressing style last time and the academy team do all play that style, it makes moving up the age groups and into the first team more successful. Doesn’t make sense to change that approach for me, I could be completely wrong like
This! Being the cheapskates that they are, they saved 1m in wages on Warnock and lost 11m through relegation.
Of course it wasn't the only option, but Warnock was never coming here. I reckon he only went public about being interested to let people know he hadn't fully retired.
We couldn't afford him. It's as simple as that. Hard to say they thought they knew better when essentially they scarpered halfway through the season.
