I take your point and it’s a valid one indeed. Barnsley has been my club since I began watching them in the late 70’s early 80’s… over the years though, that has diminished due to geographical location and life in general. Guess that’s why I don’t get too attached or that bothered when folk leave.

This is why you should never build a team with loan players and be heavily reliant on them. We’re now a keeper and a defender down.

Collins is just as capable as Isted but after being treat as a back up for 6 months we have no idea what that can have done to him mentally. I doubt he’d be in a hurry to sign a new contract and he only has a year left on his current one.

I tend to largely agree with this. I can't imagine Brad Collins is feeling massively committed to Barnsley FC right now. I guess the other way to look at it, is it might have given him a boost. Under Duff he was probably preparing for exit. He might now be thinking he'll get No.1 back again. Guess it could go either way.

No. It’s his words more than his actions. Blabbing to the media about moving up here, how he’s going to stay because he loves it so much.

If he just said how much he was enjoying it and we’ll see what happens, that’s fine. Circumstances change and all the best if you end up going in a different direction. Just spare us the empty meaningless BS.

Yeah, totally get why people mellow on stuff like this over the years. It's not a bad thing. I'm a lot mellower than I used to be. Part of growing up! But I want our fans to remain passionate about Barnsley Football Club. We saw what a difference that passion meant last season. So I accept they're allowed to be just as passionate when things go wrong.

Fair dos mate. I just think calling him a 'rat' is too far like.

Yep, agree 100%. We had a fantastic season and the sound bites from Duff filled us all with optimism. The board have some decisions to make now on the playing and non playing front. We’ll see what unfolds in the coming weeks. Spectemur Agendo…….. BTID

Did Duff go to Charlton then?

Maybe Collins is glad Duff has gone and for what ever reason didn’t connect with him, works both ways.

I puzzled by Isteds’ “logic” then, I guess footballers aren’t very bright - not coming to Barnsley because Duff isn’t there but going somewhere else…also where Duff isn’t. Yeah makes loads of sense that.

That’s really easy to explain. Just because Duff saw him as No.1 at Barnsley, doesn’t mean he would see him as No.1 at his new club. He’s gone to a higher league with a completely different squad. No comparison at all really. Isted’s new options weren’t Barnsley or Swansea. They were Barnsley or Charlton.

I'm confused now. I thought you basically said you feel apathy with all these incomings and outgoing now after getting used to it over the years?

no I’ve never said that. I’ve said I don’t get emotionally attached to players or managers anymore. I get passionate about the prospects for Barnsley Football Club and the way it operates. I’m able to separate the two these days. But I totally understand why others do get emotionally attached to players and managers, because I used to be the same. No good ever comes of it, but I get why it happens
