Fine margins. If Connell had buried his pass at Wembley then he'd have been the man who provided the assist that took us back to our promised land.
Great before his injury, offered nothing after it. Nice lad though, hope it works out for him. Surprised he linked back up with Barton though, thought they didn’t like each other.
I wish him the best but I've struggled to warm to him since he forced through the loan move to Ipswich when we were struggling during the Stendel/Struber season. I probably can't look at him objectively due to this but I thought he flattered to deceive and delivered very little on the pitch. I felt the club handled his personal issues very well and I hope he wins his fight against the demons but I'm not losing and sleep over his move.
It's a shame. But to be honest I think it's the right call. It will only be sentimental to keep him. I hope he does go on and do well. Up until his injury I thought we've finally clicked both him with us, and us with him. And then it went wrong. Genuinely out of many players who we let go, I wish him the very best of luck. Thanks for the effort Luke, and I hope you manage to keep on top of any mental health issues you have suffered
Goes with all my best wishes. Sometimes, especially with young players, it just doesn’t work out. Never thought he lacked effort or desire but ultimately for an attacking player didn’t create or score enough.
I agree with what you have said & believe that Derby were laughing all the way to the bank when they unloaded him on us, they had our pants down , On another point , if we have offered him a new contract & considering his age are we not entitled to some form of fee/ compensation ?
That’s fair enough, I think he has a daughter too and it’s not ideal being so far from family at that age. I hadn’t heard anything mate, never do nowadays really on the transfer front. Just noticed he’s not with a Barnsley lass and it was posted they were looking for their first home. I’ve got her on Facebook. Best of luck to him!
Offered great pace (and something we don't have) to operate between midfield and attack. Hope we get a similar replacement....to compliment the squad
Only according to this forum. Barton publicly stated he didn't think Thomas was offering enough (which was the worst kind of bullying apparently). A couple of weeks later Barton praised him publicly and said Thomas had really stepped up.
We have signed Kacper Lopata. I haven't the foggiest about his ability, but it isn't true to claim we haven't signed anyone.
Fair enough but I meant no head coach to decide if he wants the player and if so to sell to him the vision.
the head coach has to be the one to sell his footballing vision to these young lads, provide Leadership and inspiration and form a special relationship with them.
