are all landlords massively rich? Are they all scum? Did the migrants not get as much coverage as people in a sub to see the titanic? Did the bloke doing a charity swim across the Atlantic get less then both?

First I've heard of it so I would say so.

If he had a support boat why weren't they watching him?

Selective response again from you. No surprise.

My opinion is that wealth has nothing to do with it. A rich person and a poor person are made up of the same atoms and are equal as are black and white, men and women etc etc

However for me the bit that kind of makes their deaths a little less sad for me and makes some jokes or comments ok (depending on what they are) is that they died because they were stupid and took stupid risks to do something stupid.
Less than 2 weeks ago a video was posted online by an oceangate employee of the sub leaking underwater on a test run for this exact dive.
They had to sign a waiver in which they were told the sub was uncertified, experimental and warned several times that they could die.
There were several documented and publicly available people criticising the safety of this exact sub prior to this dive so a quick check by the passengers would have shown them this.
The previous dives pretty much all had to be abandoned or cut short due to safety problems. Again this was public knowledge and any passengers would have been able to see this.
The CEO who was on board has bragged about breaking safety rules to make and use the sub. Again this was public knowledge.

So for all the reasons above I find it very hard to have much sympathy for the victims (although I do have sympathy deep down inside really) and treat it much like I do any of the other Darwin award winners that I've laughed at in the past.

That's my personal take on it BUT I do believe that some people on here really have made it a class thing and a political tool by saying people only care because they were rich and don't care about the poor migrants. Not going to name names but I think that's definitely happened. Likewise I think some have done the opposite and have shown again that they are a tiny bit racist (again not naming names and also I don't mean you by the way) in their replies and defence of treating these deaths as more important.

Lastly I think that it should be obvious to .ost people, and I think it is obvious to you, that the world hasn't been captivated because of the wealth of the people on board. It's much much simpler than that. People like a mystery, people like an adventure and people like suspense. A sub missing under the sea with a deadline for finding them ticks all those boxes just like as someone else said the boys in the cave did and the Chilean miners and many others have. Anyone suggesting that it's not because of these reasons and is because of their wealth is being dishonest in my opinion as nobody is daft enough to truly think that.
The reason that their are far less posts about a migrant boat sinking is because it's terribly sad but it's happened and there is no mystery or anything. It's a sad thing that's happened and people have little to post about regarding it that hasn't already been posted 1000 times over recent years. If it makes someone feel better I can post that I think the Tories are cnuts, that's think far more needs to be done for migrants and that I think it must be horrible at home for someone to risk their life to get away. But I've already posted that dozens of times so what do I achieve?

Sorry for the long rambling post and for jumping in but I thought it was relevant because I agree with you on nearly everything and wanted to back you up a little but at the same time wanted to explain why I personally am not so sad about it happening.

Just to show how incompetent and reckless the company actually is.
Last year they put the sub in the water, did the usual tests and discovered that the sub was spinning in circles when they tried to move forward. Obviously they abandoned the dive right? Nah don't be silly, they ignored it! They dove to the bottom of the ocean and guess what happened when they tried to move forwards. Yep that's right, it went in circles. The CEO after realising he couldn't stop it sent messages to the support boat asking how to reprogram the joysticks on the playstation controller to stop it happening.
What was the issue? Oh they'd installed one of the thrusters backwards. Yeah you heard that right. They installed a thruster the wrong way round, noticed it during testing and ignored it

I don't think you can ask a closed question and then object when someone gives an answer.

It's a shame Johnson didn't ignore the safety rules and stayed in that fridge a while longer.

"They" as in "The Authorities", not the support crew.
