https://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/barnsley/next-permanent-manager/winner Everything changes quickly. Cotterill was 6s yesterday and now 7/2. My pick Jon Sharp has come in to 33/1.
Steven Gerrard and Dean Smith are on the list. Surely you know those two will be the two we decide between to give the job to
No idea why people keep suggesting the guy. He's keeping Boreham Wood in and around the top 10 of the national league & managed to get them into play offs & lost, twice within 5 years. Doesn't scream instant promotion with a league one club with a budget outside of the top 10 last year. Edit - Obviously I'd support the guy, and I'd assume he has all his coaching badges available so he can actually manage a league side without us being fined. Just not sure why I keep seeing his name mentioned as though he's a hidden gem.
To be fair, they're the best 3 managers we've had in the last 20 years. Nobody else in that time (barring maybe Hecky and Ritchie) will have better than a 37% win ratio.
They're definitely above the norm for us but we should be aiming to recruit at or around that level surely?
I guess so, but it's not an exact science in itself. Jose Morais had been at a couple of clubs where he had a win percentage of over 70% whereas Val and Stendel had got win ratios in the low 30's at some of their clubs. I guess you have to judge the standard. I'm not agreeing with the managerial suggestion above btw (I've never heard of Luke Garrard), but I don't think win ratios should be the be all and end all. Many have suggested Chris Wilder, who's last 2 managerial appointments have yielded below 40% if I remember right.
