Wilder and Moore

Are these 2 actually realistic targets or well out of our pay structure?

If they take a short pay drop for a year but get us promoted then move on again for more money, is that enough for us?

 

Don't know about money for wilder but, as has been said numerous times, he would more than likely want to be a "manager" not a head coach.

 

Wilder unrealistic Moore seems more plausible

 

Both are capable of getting a Championship job if they wait, I honestly don’t think Wilder would drop to league one yet or that we could afford him. Another failure in the championship and league one might be his only option mind.

I dont think Moores stock is as high as Wilder, yes he broke records but they had 4 times our budget, the 1st or 2nd highest in L1 alongside Ipswich and he only got promoted by a whisker. 2 seasons trying to get out of L2 with such a high budget and missed out on automatics twice. Managers who make teams overachieve are more attract than ones who meet or fall below expectations, that for me is why Moore might struggle to attract a championship job, Duff was a way more attractive target having overachieved considerably.

So we have a chance with Moore but do we really want him?

 

I don’t think I,d listen to moores press sessions what a borefest.

 

Wilder is completely unrealistic for a number of reasons.

Darren Moore for me is also unrealistic, however there is a slight chance. If he's wanting to get back in the game straight away, we remain the most attractive option for him. It looks like Leeds are going for Viera, and of course he won't go back to Hillsborough. It's just whether he holds on, because the likelihood is, he could potentially end up with a championship gig by October. He's in a lose lose situation if he comes here, as if he does well, people would say based on his record, he should. If he does poorly, his stock is diminished.

 

Still think it’ll be Devaney or some relative unknown from L2 or lower reaches of L1.
The guy at Burton whose name deceives me could be worth a punt for me. Did fantastic in second half of last season.

 

Moore is definitely realistic, especially if we use Bruce Dyer as an ambassador to persuade him. I don't see him getting a Championship job, but a sound League One side, like us, would be a good fit. I think that he wouldn't expect to be on the same wage as at Wednesday. Anyway, wouldn't it be great if we do land Moore, he gets us promoted and we pass Wednesday going the other way in April 2024. Dream on. It could happen.

 

Im not sure it's a good time to promote Devaney. We've just lost a play off final, then our manager isteds gone to Charlton Thomas to Bristol we need a big character to come in a pick the dressing room up as heads will obviously be down. Is Devaney the man for than I'm not sure.

 

Friend is a Boro fan. Nearly wet himself when I suggested Wilder. "Why do you want to watch the most boring football in the world" was his response.

 

Why is wilder so unrealistic when he nearly joined reading and we are closer to home for him? Reading are skint also

 

I genuinely think Wilder is more realistic than Moore.

Moore will want a fair crack at the championship as he's not yet had that and is coming off the back of a successful spell in L1.

Wilder hasn't been successful at the last few clubs he's been at and with up and coming managers like Moore, Duff and the Plymouth lad around at the moment he's less likely to be in the conversation for those Championship jobs.

 

I'm not sure either of them would be realistic for us. Too many indications that Head Coaches have their hands tied behind their backs at Oakwell. As many have said, Chris Wilder is 'old school' and would probably want a significant input in to recruitment and team selection. Also, the stumbling block at Reading was his need to bring in his own backroom staff, likely to mean we would have to incur the expense of releasing some our current staff. We can speculate as to the reasons Moore departed Hillsborough. Chansiri says it was not about recruitment, pointing out that he (Chansiri) felt they already had a Championship squad plying their trade in League 1. I'm sure I read somewhere that Moore's decision to jump ship at Doncaster wasn't all about taking on a bigger challenge either but that might be sour grapes in the Rovers camp. Alternatively we go with an up and coming manager from League 1 or League 2 whose long-term ambition is likely to be to use Oakwell as a stepping stone, with the risk that it's a one season appointment. Good for who we appoint but not necessarily taking us any further forward.

 

Coaches at Oakwell haven't got there hands tied behind there backs all coaches are part of the recruitment policy.

 

Whilst i've been in the Wilder in camp from the start i am starting to think that with the constraints he'd be under ie coach not manager' budgets wages etc that it won't happen' i am however thinking that Dave challinor may be worth a look' good experience in lower leagues good win rate plenty of promotions' we took a punt on Duff so why not on Challinor.

 

at least another week until owt is said IMHO.

 

Won't be Disco unless we get turned down by 2 or 3. Would have in been in by now with the mantra stability stability stability

 

Remember lads and lasses, the board want hi octane pressing football.

Both of these don’t tick the box.

Neither of them will be on the shortlist imho.

 

They haven't said owt abart Oulare and Thomas yet, and they've already gone.
