    It is with a very sad heart that I let you all know of the passing on Friday of my beloved dad Bob (imer red). Many of you may know that he was diagnosed with lung cancer and was awaiting the results of recents scan after 12 weeks of chemo to determine the next move. Unfortunately he died through complications before knowing the outcome
    My dad was a devoted Barnsley fan since he was 8 years old and followed them home and away. He had many a tale to tell of being in the old 4th division, and what him and his mates got up to on away trips. He even met my mum through the club as she worked at Oakwell as a secretary in the 70’s.
    I live in jersey now and followed my dads obsession with the reds, our last match together was port vale at home when we drew 1-1 on a Tuesday night which is ironically our first match of the new season.
    A long time ago when we were on a particularly bad run of form I sent him 3 turds in a text after the match and that has stuck after every match win lose or draw. Every game day he would say send me 3 turds after the match and then we would dissect the match for ages. Ironically the last text he sent me was 3 turds on Thursday night and it was to the news of yet another manager abandoning us
    He spent hours on this board and enjoyed all your opinions, he knew facts and figures about thousands of games but funnily enough the thing he enjoyed the most was spending hours on owls talk when they had lost. He loved a miserable owl

    Sorry for your loss mate. The bit about him loving a miserable Owl made me properly chuckle! I'm glad that this BBS gave him a lot of joy. It really is a fantastic community, which transcends football.
