Mmm... well I hope moves have already been made at our end, such that all we have to do now is announce them. Seems like Devaney is going to be given the hot seat. If not, I have no idea whether any new coach might want all his own team in, and if so again I have no idea if that would mean the sack for Devaney or whether some other role at the club would be available. It was easier last time to accommodate all and sundry because Duff knew Devaney well. I have no idea about anything really.
Absolutely diabolical decision If Devaney ends up with the job and he's not even present in the first week of pre season.
Should that be the start and end of the interview process? Pep, great you’re interested but you can’t start until next week, sorry don’t want you.
There's no 'can't start' until next week....... I would expect abit of self sacrifice on the part of the potential candidate, considering that the club aren't exactly in a good position staffing wise..... I would question whether the potential coach cares enough about the potential job.
It's Duff's fault, Devaney probably booked his holiday after hearing Duff say he was no flybynight, gonna be here for the long haul, yadda, yadda, yadda, he probably ran it by the boss......OK if I come back a couple days late, got a cracking deal on the flights. Duff told him, no problem, I'll be here, count on me, only had 2 clubs me, going nowhere mate.
So you’d sacrifice the best candidate for a very short period of time and settle for second best(or worse) just so they can be physically in the building earlier? Bearing in mind actual training, the first week will be assessments, running etc oh and he could oversee it from afar he doesn’t have to actually be there.
What happens if the guy is employed and can’t leave straight away? Would you prefer someone who would show such little loyalty and respect?
