To be fair there was a similar post prior to the start of the disastrous Schopp / Assbagi season. A certain poster put a detailed account on here after the Manchester City friendly about how much of a **** show it was behind the scenes and that the head coach didn't have a clue, no structure, no discipline etc. There was a lot of denials and calls of bull **** about that post and even club employees came on here to respond and claim it wasn't true. Not saying the initial post to this thread is true but when you look at the current financial issues at the club it wouldn't surprise me if the goalposts had been moved and Duff felt like he couldn't deliver another successful season and so it's best to get out whilst his stock was high.
Wouldn't surprise me...... How many more times is Calamity Khaled going to bulls**t the fans? Clueless and out of his depth.
I honestly don't get it. How the **** can we be in financial trouble? I assume you know alot about accounts... Teams with lower recourses and smaller attendances than us, seem to attract players with bigger wages. How can that happen?, we make profit off player sales also and most our signings are peanuts or on a free. I just don't see the logic...
If and its a big if this is at least in part truth, then I hope this is the big news we were informed would come out. I won't be pleased about it but at least we will know. Its far better to know the truth than told a good lie (which seems to be the bedrock of a corrupt footy world) imho. I think a few years ago Brussia Dortmund came clean with their fans and told them they had overstretched and this was unsustainable...so they would have to go to bringing the kids through. The fans backed the club, the rest is history. I'm not suggesting for one minute we are like Dortmund in size ...only that we may have a similar decision to make based on our finances....I would sooner know. Hopefully its all rubbish though.
This sounds like a tall tale that has grown in the telling. Moreover even if there are kernels of truth would anyone be surprised by this? I would hope not the man who signed up to the project to begin with! The board may well have asked for more younger players blooded in- this is not a secret Khalid mentioned it in his media interview. We have also done it this year with increasing success. Secondly no one here would have expected more 'experienced players'- we extended Norwoods contract as an exception to the rule based on performances, and Cole, Kane, Colllins, Iseka (!) should now be into their prime years. The age balance of the squad can only really go down from where we are now. As for the finances I would say that is correct, we all know the club wont survive in L1 (or really CH) without either owner largesse or profitable transfer dealings. So if we sign mads for 200k and get 3 million for him, that's the model. If we sign Luca for 100k and get 2 million for him etc, even if we think those values are low on the face of it. Despite this the board put money in to protect their asset, 6 million actually, last year and this covered the disasterous dealings of the last windown, enabled us to keep Mads despite interest and even sign Styles up to a long term deal while still bringing in 'raw talent' like Luca, Phillips and more and the cherished 'experienced at that level striker'. If you want the owner largesse model get down the road to S6- Chancer has put 250 mil in by now, for what? So whether its true or not, I am not even sure I would disagree. Of course you can make all that sound really bad and call for ambition to spend money the club will never recoup, Mr Bannan is probably available if you would like to do that!
Money is tight so they are deciding to consolidate in league 1 ??? FFS, that's got to up there with bullshittest of bullsh1t rumours I've heard
Re the OP, sadly, it sounds pretty believable. If the owners have been putting money in at the rate they say they have, they are going to want to put a lid on that, and quickly. Also, re the board involvement on team selection/style of play/player recruitment, etc, it’s the second time in a few days that I have heard something like this and the other comes from a very reliable source. A fortnight ago I was getting ready for the news we had signed Isted, and looking forward to us trying to win our first title since 1955 under the best manager we have had for a very long time. I’m now expecting not to enjoy the coming weeks/months. At least it’s the summer and we have Yorkshire CCC to provide us with better news…d’oh!
Except he said the big news would draw fans back. I can't see him anouncing "we're skint" would do that.
Yea I know right! But like saying, due to the cost of living crisis I have decided not to go for the promotion I only just missed out on last year- I'm going to sell the car instead!
Hang on, there’s been a pretty big clamour on here for the likes of Jalo and Dyer to be given a chance. We’ve another international in Bland. If we can’t blood internationals in League One then we might as well sell them We can’t have it all ways. I for one hope we do give youth a chance, mixed in with a team with playoff experience from last year.
