Me and the ex were on the train going up to Edinburgh a few years ango and at Newcastle two blokes got on and sat at our table. One of them was Pete Hooton, lead singer from The Farm, and his mate was the dad of Conor Grant, who then was at Everton. We had a few pints with them and they were great company. They said they were going to the match at Hibernian, as they knew one of the coaches or something, and then were going out afterwards with Irvine Welsh, inviting us to join them. But we couldn’t go, as we were heading up to Edinburgh to go to the ex’s auntie’s 65th birthday do. I was pretty miffed at the time, having to go to the ex’s family do instead of what would have been a great night out, but knowing what I know now…
