    Yes, I am simply saying of the two styles of play this is far superior- so I am not complaining when a couple of early order batsmen end up a bit silly-m its subjective but in my view we were more 'compromise' in that series that we we were out and out defensive?

    We were also "compromise" when Cook and Trott batted all day and ground the Aussies into submission. Can't remember Sir Alistair playing a reverse ramp, or taking on the hook shot with 5 men set for it?

    Of the two styles of course this is superior - everyone would rather watch us have a slog than Sibley and Burns bat like crabs tied to a wardrobe. But there is a third choice. Something in between when players have the freedom to score quickly, but also are sensible enough to pick up 1s and 2s when the field is spread and the run rate is around 5 and over.

    And Root has just done that.

    Good old BazBall.

    Thing is, if Australia were bowling well then fair enough it's more acceptable but we're just throwing wickets away, they're not even having to work hard for them.

    I sort of got Pope’s dismissal and didn’t mind it so much, it was the right shot just poorly executed as KP said on sky - but Duckett and Root were just plain stupid.

    Just see the spells off. They can’t bowl like this for long spells, they’ll be knackered - and the spinner looks like he’s nobbled.

    I’m all for attacking cricket but for Christ’s sake there’s a limit. Just gifting wickets to them.
