My latest 4 part opus about punk music.

The next 3 shows will be blistering, with 3 people on the punk scene, the punters, DJs, promoters, venue owners & the bloke Joy Division had the rehearsal studio " Love Will Tear Us Apart" was shot at.

First one is a bit lower key. Still worth a listen. Second one is a X times better...

Indeed. He put my band, Famous Dead on loads of times at the Duchess & the Irish Centre around 94/95 & was a massive support.

I'm made up he's agreed to the interview. It will cover everything from the early Futurama gigs, that were legendary for the punk / post punk scene, probably through to Nirvana / PJ Harvey...

Do I qualify, I saw Ian Dury, Elvis Costello and Wreckless Eric in 1977?

Edit; probably a bit more "New Wave" than punk.

I like Slayer, but Napalm Death are better orientierers as a rule.

PS, thanks for folks listening. If you did.

Guests on the last 3 shows ... just edited the second.... Chico Malo. Third is Manchester, Tony Davidson & fourth is John Keenan.

PS, thrash may feature in the fourth show. Not a lot though... It is a part of what I may cover. More Dead Kennedys, Husker Du, Replacements, etc, but Motorhead & one of those thrash bands deserve a feature.

it is punk. Fair play @thetykester

    Abolish government
    There's nothing to it
    Forget about God
    He's no innocent
    We live by a system
    Of perfect goals
People vs. people who are bored and old
Life must rest on the man who represents
    Looking for nothing in this
    Campus with just friends
    President the name
    President the label
The highest man on the government table
Superficial love only for a ****
But love is incest and it's only for a ****
    To the guys provided free
Peace time war time country's in vein
All die for this land some over seas
I live for the summons serve my country
Army, Navy, Air Force or jail
To the guys provided for free
Peace time war time country's in vein
But that's the American way what it is to be free
If that's what they call freedom it's not for me

Edit... I had to Google the lyrics, but fair play, that is punk.

A good listen @John Peachy. Looking forward to the next instalments.

Your mention of Futurama brings back some nice memories. I went to Futurama 3 at Stafford in 1981. Great lineup (below). At the time I was listening to new wave stuff alongside progressive rock and heavy metal, so I was probably the only person there in flaired jeans. As usual we turned up completely unprepared - 4 of us with just a 2 man tent, so 2 of us slept in my car... a Mini.

But the music was brilliant. In addition to the acts below, Sisters Of Mercy were a late addition to day one.
    Seems like only yesterday...
