There is literally no way he would have signed a new contract. You are delusional if you think he would have.
Managers don’t want to stay with Barnsley because we are Barnsley, we have no money, we are in League One, and have a fanbase who kicks off at basically **** all.
Well if that’s the case, let’s just pack up now then eh? We’re a fairly big fish in this league, and it was us that gave Duff the opportunity. If you go to him before others are interested and say “we’re happy with how things are going, we’d like to extend the deal by a year, we’ll up your wages by 30% but we want rid of that clause” If you’re doing it, do it. Don’t do it half heartedly. Also, fans kicking off for **** all? Another bit I don’t understand… Fans aren’t kicking off about **** all, they’re kicking off because we’ve been here time and time and time again and we simply do not learn. Fans are worried, the recent goings on here are financial transactions for them, it’s their job. For us, it’s heartache and dejavu.
But you say this like you know it to be true, when there’s just no way you can know that. No one knows what was discussed, when, or what improved terms were on the table. You also have no idea what Duff would or wouldn’t have been willing to accept at what point. He may have flat refused to remove any release clause. And upping his wages by 30% would still probably be nothing compared to what Swansea are paying him. He was offered an extended contract on improved terms. He rejected both. He simply didn’t want to stay. Anything else is just conjecture.
Nothing contradictory at all. I never ever dreamed the club would have tried to extend his contract, it is madness it give a manager a long term deal in these leagues as it can be financial suicide. But they did, and fair play. However it’s utterly pointless doing that once an offer from a club in the league above has just come in for you. What I’m saying is, if you’re going to do it then do it before the end of the season so you’re not fighting a man in the ring who’s twice the size of you. Get in their early and get it done.
End of the day.. the reason we are in this mess are because of the board! If they haven’t got the find Head coaches don’t want to stay at Barnsley because we lack ambition
Calm down calm down. Managers players come and go. We're still here the fans. Duff had his head turned before Wembley. Don't kid yourself . He's gone ,we move on , players move on that's been the case the last over 50 yrs I've been going to Oakwell. Sammy the snake went for more money ,just like Danny Wilson and et all. Get a grip
I’m aware of that, but he’s going to isn’t he when there’s offers on the table from championship clubs? my gripe is we always wait until every other club makes their move and then we’re just sat there feeding off the scraps that are left behind. I’d just like to see us grab a situation by the throat for a change and take control of it, rather than us just accepting it and going with the flow.
Did anyone else notice a lull around teatime? As soon as washing up’s done, a whole new avalanche of total borrocks.. At least I have the good sense only to think out of my arse & leave it at that..
We don't have the resources to pay stupid money to jeopardise our finances. I support our sensible approach, do we want to become a Wigan. Personally no thanks.
100% agree, but do you believe Duff was on mega money? I don’t. I’m not saying break the bank to keep him, far from it. I just wish we was quicker off the mark with things.
Honestly mate he was ******* off before Wembley. He as shown his true colours . Here for the long haul my arse. Nothing would have kept him moving him up the leagues , just like his previous team couldn't have stopped him moving to BFC. Do you think Cheltenham was thinking just like us . Absolutely. **** him he's gone ,we move on and start again. Like we DID WHEN Danny jumped ship .
