If they are crap they'll be gone by next summer or maybe even earlier If they prove to be half decent somebody will trigger the inevitable release clause and they'll be gone next Summer maybe before. We took one step forward last season and it looks like we are in the process of sliding back at least that one step.
I think that's why I wouldn't mind Disco as he might just stick around should he do a decent job and we could have some stability. Then again, I thought the same about Hecky and had my heart broken...
It’s probably pretty likely though, sadly. Apart from the last sentence, which still remains to be seen.
I guess it depends who we're negotiating with. If the board have a clear idea of who they want, like they did last summer, and will do what they can to bring them in, they may have to make compromises, such as having clauses inserted in the contract. Then again, we appointed Daniel Stendel in pre-season, he gained promotion and remained in charge for the start of the following season. Granted it all fell apart soon after, but I guess my point is, it's all in the detail. We just have to trust that the club are being diligent this time to ensure that we're able to have some sort of continuity going forward. This also remains to be seen.
If it’s not Devaney then it’s looking increasingly likely that we’ve gone back to the foreign route. It’s definitely not someone currently in employment with another club over here or some media outlet would’ve leaked it by now.
My memory isn't as sharp as it used to be, but even our recent foreign appointments had some level of media leak from the host country didn't they? This is a whole new level of quietness I don't think I've ever seen from us. Manager/Head coach wise at least
Give me an example of when a brilliant Barnsley manager delivered us success and shunned advances of bigger clubs in higher divisions? Also the other way - when one has been struggling and we've stuck by them after a relegation or poor performances?
What we really need is someone who’s not fly by night, someone who will be here longer than 5 minutes, someone who is wanting to be part of the journey, someone who has a history of loyalty.
I'd settle for someone who came in and said, "I'll be a resounding success. Get the team winning, playing good football and if I get head hunted so be it. It's a short career and you're only as good as your last result". The stand out candidate.
Can you name another club that loses a coach so quickly, so often, after what is frankly minimal success.
But it's true and I feel his pain , where's the ambition from the club , it's same old Barnsley ...and it's frustrating to say the least
