Fixed it for you.... it is getting embarrassing now. Zero patience whatsoever, believing everything as gospel.

He also said he was in it for the long haul, no fly by night...

We don't know what he said was true and what was scripted to follow the board's line or butter up fans

Or that he's about to be announced as the new manager of Real Madrid?

The same board who've been silent throughout all this process? The same CEO suggested that a big announcement was going to made that would delight the fan base and didn't make an announcement? They won't explain the strategy.

Do you think he had the final say on the Oli Shaw transfer and then proceeded never to play him? Didn't feel like a Duff signing.

It's an underwhelming name unfortunately after the excitement of thinking it might be Wilder.

He might turn out to be the next Martin O'Neill. But getting a guy in who's never worked in the English game from a league where the average attendance is 2,600? A bigger gamble than we needed to take in my opinion when the Duff appointment has proved the value of a manager who knows the level we're competing at.

He said he had the final say on all transfers, I’ve read him say that more than once, so I’ve no reason to believe otherwise. Plenty of managers sign players who then don’t work out. Isn’t that more likely than the manager being forced to say a lie? Doesn't make sense to do that

Not "didn't work out", but "never played".

Difference is 95% of fans would have heard of Duff before he came here, I bet less than 1% have heard of this bloke.

It’s happened before with other managers/signings at other clubs, fitness was the initial reason not to play him if I remember right, after that period he decided he wasn’t as good as first realised, wouldn’t be the first time.

Seems more believable than Duff lying to the press/his staff/fans on multiple occasions

What a underwhelming appointment this would be, just shows you that the board don’t give a crap what manager is running things they just want a yes man to play the players he get told to! No ambition Barnsley!

Exactly. In fact, the board give so little of a crap that they've spent two weeks carefully searching for their man who will allow them to pick the team for him.

Various itinerations of the board and their chosen CEO's have also said this time and time again.

They ask the coach what position needs filling, they find suitable candidates, and the head coach decides who he wants from a shortlist.

The papers which are NI ones, only say he was a candidate and had an interview.

There’s no real news here other than he may/may not be chosen.

    We know no more.

However, I do think we’ve someone lined up, but they are with a club already. Hence compo etc. to agree.
