    There was something I read yesterday that his brother had passed away not too long ago which he was he wasn't keen to leave his family.

    OK. All we know is that he's been linked with us. Nothing more. Not that he rejected us or we decided not to pursue an interest in him.

    Was he just interviewed but never offered the job? And the fact he was interviewed has been leaked.

    None of the media yesterday said he was offered the job, just that he was in the running. One Irish website referred to him as a front runner but that was their own choice of wording, it wasn’t a direct quote from a source

    Aye, I reckon it's something along these lines. Bit like JFH last season. I reckon we've had a number 1 target all along, but interviewed others in case our main choice couldn't agree terms. I still think it'll be someone out of work with it being so hush hush. I'm hoping Leam Richardson.

    It doesn’t do him any harm leaking it, ups his reputation and gets his name in the English press

    I imagine we had several people who made the shortlist and each had at least 1 interview. It sounds like that’s what we did last time, with Duff as the main target having 6 interviews before he got the job

    My guess is the same, either unemployed, internal or not currently working in England, we’d have heard otherwise. That said getting an interview and then leaking it wouldn’t look very professional, managers need to be able to handle sensitive issues and the press so I imagine anyone blagging about it wouldn’t look good. Makes sense to not mention it until you either get the job or find out your definitely not getting the job, which is what will have happened to Higgins, with him leaking it days before we announce the new manager
