    I don't think there was a cheap option, given that the only other name who was undoubtedly in the frame was another 'unknown' from the Irish league. I think this is more a reflection of the financial realities of where the club needs to operate in League One. The owners put in a lot of money via share capital last season to balance the books, but another season at least in League One means that wage budgets throughout the club will be being adjusted accordingly. The appointment, and likely other candidates, will all have been names who fitted within that structure.

    Given that he's taking charge of Tampa at the weekend does that mean he interviewed over Teams? If so that's another step forward for the club after the Teamsgate issues with JFH.

    In reality every manager has an exit clause be it a specific contractual amount or not. If he wants to go and the other party offer up the value of his contract there's little to stop it.

    Some getting upset he's not had two decent years in charge of mighty Cheltenham town is it a gamble yes but anybody is, if Wilder came he wouldn't have said he would guarantee promotion. Watched that under the cosh interview he did says the best two he played under were big Mick and D Wilson and didn't like non league Nigel so not a bad judge it seems. Only time will tell but i can see the logic to it and wish him all the luck in the world ureds.
