Brilliant stage again today. Glad Poggy came back and we’ve still got a race on for the next few weeks.

Just need the Manx missile to win a stage.

Do all the towns in France moan about the disruption to trade by Lycra clad wallies ?

Been a brilliant tour so far. Loving the mixed up course too with mountains in the first week instead of a few sprinters days and a time trial

Probably only until they count the extra money all the visiting fans spend in the hotels, restaurants, bars and shops around town. They love a bit of the old Tour passing through...

No. They celebrate and embrace the extra income / exposure it brings because they aren’t miserable sods.

So close for Cav today, reckons he had a h=gearing problem when he really wanted to shift.

Keep at it lad, you'll do it.

Gutted. Beyond gutted. Cav is the greatest for me. Absolutely nothing in any sport compares to watching him almost fly to victory, be it on road or track. It was almost unthinkable that a Brit would win a stage when I started watching back in the early 2000s, his career has just been phenomenal. Hoped he'd have a shot at the Paris.

Everybody with an interest in cycling is guttwd for Mark Cavendish. Everything was poised for him to reach that record of 35 Tour de France wins.

However, nothing takes away the phenominal achievemts of the man. Clear of every doubt the best cycling sprinter of all time. We have been honoured to see such a great performer in our lifetime. A sad day but we celebrate his unbelievable achievments.

Huge fan of Cavendish & everything he’s achieved. It’s been so refreshing to have a top sportsman like him who isn’t media trained into saying nothing of any note. He always wears his heart on his sleeve & gives an honest opinion

Arise Sir Mark Cavendish, who else in sport deserves it.

Chris Froome too. Both more deserving than Brad Wiggins
