They've analysed the playoff final and correctly identified that the key difference between them and Luton was the number of former Barnsley players in the lineup. Data-driven.
Wouldn't surprise me if he ends up at a Championship club as he was our best keeper last season. It's telling Isted couldn't get a Championship club, but Collins probably will.
Not half. Some kind of update from our esteemed CEO wouldn’t go amiss either. The silence reminds me of the Conway days.
If we can get something close to a million for him, it would probably make sense to cash in, bearing in mind that we could probably replace him for less - I'm sure that Isted isn't the only excellent keeper available on a free. Any less and we'd probably be better off letting him run his contract down. From what I can see he wouldn't be going to Coventry as number 1, so it's whether he prioritises first team football. I can't imagine that their wages are stratospherically higher than ours.
It seems like a long time ago now, but it's only a month since it looked like we were signing Isted and folk were wondering about the wisdom of having two good keepers on the books when the money would be better spent elsewhere. I wasn't expecting back then to end up having neither of them.
Asked a mate who’s a Hartlepool fan about the new keeper we’ve signed. Said good shot stopper, prone to the odd howler, would be good back up keeper for us. If Collins does go, and he ends up first choice, feels like a gamble.
Because replacing two quality keepers in Isted and Collins with a keeper who has been described as always having a howler in him by relegated league two fans Hartlepool, and them saying he'd be a decent back up but no more screams a massive gamble for us. We've already lost our captain and best centre back, we've lost our manager as well. We need to get a good keeper and a good centre back in, not gamble on the cheap option which has failed us many times before. Whatever money we get from Collins needs to go into a replacement
So we go from having two decent keepers. To potentially having one who ended up being relegated from the season below and 2 we clearly don’t trust yet in Searle and the lad from Tottenham. Time for more new hero’s again.
He wouldn't be going anywhere for me, unless we already have a solid replacement lined up. Going from Isted and Collins to Fillip and Searle wouldn't fill me with confidence. Especially having also lost Mads and Thomas in front of him.
Collins and Isted are also prone to howlers, that’s why they are in L1. Isted kept getting beaten at his near post and didn’t Collins have a spell when he let in every shot which was on target for about seven games?
