Anything in this? Rumours galore tonight that he’s coming after he didn’t play in the Grimsby friendly. Grimsby fans even going as far as saying he’s got a medical Tuesday.
Fired broke the news a couple of nights ago, a Grimsby fan friend apparently said he was joining us. After doing a bit of research I believe it will be a fantastic signing! Will become a crowd favourite for sure.
A friend of mine, who is from Grimsby originally and knows quite a few Grimsby fans, says Clifton is widely regarded as Grimsby's best player.
I was told he's a defensive midfielder and a tireless worker, with the ability to play at a higher level.
Benson, Russell & Wolfe haven't been great, both performance & injury wise. Very inconsistent. Only got Phillips, Connell & Kane who we can depend on. Think he'll be a great addition mate. I'd try get Wolfe out on loan for a season, get a proper consistent run of games if possible. Hopeful that Russell will kick on
Collins has used an aggressive defensive midfielders in his formations while at Tampa Bay, could that be the reason?
According to wiki: “On 5 May 2023, Clifton won the Supporters' Player of the Year award, and four other awards, at the club's annual Player of the Season awards night.” Got to be a good signing for a league one club on that basis if nothing else.
Saw it on twitter in the week.. didn't repeat it, wasn't too sure of the source and weren't sure we needed another mid-fielder tbh except if one's on his way out.
He did his ACL in January, is he definitely going to take that long? I’d have thought he’d be close by October ish, maybe Christmas, has he aggravated it again?
Normally I'd say we don't. But we've lost Thomas for good now, and Benson for 3 months. They were only fringe players admittedly, but this lad sounds like a good option.
