If the club thinks that Searle is ready to step up then that would be a very nice bit of business, to be honest. £500k to a million seems very optimistic for a player who's essentially now a second choice goalkeeper in the third tier though.

(Very) low six figures up front with generous add ons feels a lot more likely.

    Agree, I’d say £250k tops.

Was a star player in the championship. If we got crap money for him like that, it would be only because he no longer feels committed

It's not a case of "rolling over". £500k may well make good business sense for the club if we've got a decent replacement lined up on a free. Keepers just don't command the fees that outfield players do, especially not with just a year left on their deal.

Yeah exactly, and its coming across as childish behaviour by Collins. If we've got our facts right of course, as none of us know this for sure do we.

Full international. Fair enough for New Zealand, but that suggests he's got something about him.

Seems bizarre that the club cancel a friendly because the new gaffer wants to get a good look at the whole squad, yet they're happy selling the 1st choice keeper while NC's still in Florida packing for his flight.

I don't believe Collins was harshly treated at all. He had a dip in form with plenty of people suggesting he should be dropped but Duff kept faith in him. He then got injured and we brought Isted in who put in some absolutely stellar performances and rightly kept the shirt.

That said I've got absolutely no ill will to towards Brad Collins. If he stays here I hope he plays as well as he did during his best spell for us. If he leaves I wish him well and hope he has a great career.
We have shown last season that he's not irreplaceable but he's also shown that he's a good goalkeeper. He deserves the best career he possibly can have and I hope he has that whether it's here or elsewhere

He's got one cap. We let Walton go and he clearly wasn't deemed good enough to be Collins' understudy back then with us bringing Isted in. I'm not knocking the lad, I just don't see how he suddenly becomes number one.. after playing thirty minutes of football.

I'm of the opinion that black is actually white.

I don't share your opinion of Collins. The fact that he won our Player Of The Season award in 2021-2 suggests that others don't either.

Lets be fair , who else could have won it , we were bottom & scraped 30 points, it has to be the keeper , he was the busiest player in the team lol !!!

Wouldn't even be worth it, keep and release on a free/renew contract in the hope we are promoted

That's one more cap than the vast majority of professional footballers will ever get, no matter what their nationality. I'm not suggesting that Searle is any sort of world beater, but international caps are not to be sniffed at.
