    Unfortunately, a lot more make tiny, tiny amounts and then have their nudes branded around the internet forever. And I really wish there were loads more campaigns trying to raise awareness about this. These big only fans stars go on about their millions, when earning 2k a month puts you in the top 2% of earnings on that site (around a year ago)... So how much are people who aren't nowhere near the top 50% earning? It's a scary time for young, impressionable girls/women who think they can just go and earn millions without consequence due to lack of awareness and I really hope it changes soon. Obviously, no law at 18 can stop them, but at least show the dangers properly instead of just promoting how much these other women earn.

    Edit - and I'm not trying to imply women can't do whatever they want obviously, when of proper age. Just I've got 3 younger sisters, all online, TikTok etc, and they only see the good things about sites like Onlyfans. They never see the young girls who's lives have been ruined, and it's such a sad story.

    Without commenting on your piece JD, it would not surprise me if, when all is said and done, that there is more than photos, and perhaps an element of blackmail involved.

    The other issue could well be that as they are now 20 the BBC is on difficult ground because they are an adult. I work in HE and we have had parents and/or people claiming to be, call up asking questions about their son/daughter's welfare because they aren't responding to their calls. We cannot confirm or deny they are a student with us, because we don't have the legal ability to do so. In a couple of cases it later turned out the student was estranged from the parent, and in another they had left an abusive partner.

    It's possible slightly different circumstances existed here in so far as claim was made by the parent/alleged parent, not the 20 year old concerned. At that point as you said, you have no way of knowing, or possibly finding out quickly, or at all, the truth of it.

    If course it might be more clear cut than that, but it's possible lawyers were advising against contacting the person concerned based on a 'complaint'.

    I have a few comments on this story. Not least the point Gally is making that the Sun taking the moral high ground on this is beyond parody.

    I dont like the way the story has been hijacked by the right wing shrills to bash the BBC. The number of people on social media hoping its one particular presenter because he hold views which are contrary to their bigoted racist agenda makes me really angry. ( Its not him anyway )

    Its not clear to me if an offence has been committed were explicit photos taken and sent when the victim was 17 - if so then yes an offence has been committed and this should be a police matter and you have to ask why the Mother or The Sun havent taken the story to the police.

    All this stuff about naming the offender - why - until its clear a criminal offence has been committed they have a reasonable right to be kept from the lynch mobs. And to bash the BBC for not naming him but ignore the fact the Sun hasnt named them either is rank hypocrisy.

    In any case this should be far less of a story than the one about the Unnamed Tory MP who is currently on bail charged with 4 counts of rape who is not suspended and can still hold surgeries with his unknowing constituents visit schools etc. This is given far less media coverage which makes no sense
    I smell a decomposing feline

    Finally this is the mother of a 20 year old driving the story - not the victim himself , whilst I have some sympathy for her its not really up to her to stop a 20 year old sending explicit pictures to someone for money if thats what they want to do. The only reason the Sun can run the story is because of the 17 year old claim.

    All this stuff about the BBC concealing Pedo's again doesnt bear any scrutiny in this case - and even if there is evidence of photos of a 17 year old this should be down to the police to handle, and its nothing like the same as the Saville cover up
