Disagree with this completely. I think the fans are 100% entitled to question the decisions the Club make, and to hold them to account when they feel those decisions are bad ones.
On what basis is the decision a bad one? How has that been measured? If you are going to say length of service, Barnsley through and through, local lad etc then that doesn't cut it in my book. No one can answer if it's a bad decision at present, it could prove to be but only time will tell. If it goes tits up then by all means question the club but not at this stage.
. What I'd say is Helen how can anyone say it's a bad decision? What are they basing it off? Keith's a great lad, the comments on here show that and the people that know him only have positive things to say but the club has decided to make a change. Let's see how it goes before demanding explanations.
[QUOTE="Shepley Red, post: 3143372, member: 7049" I've no issues with what the club have done.[/QUOTE] ‘Course you haven’t, it’s not you that’s just lost your job.
I doubt that photographing BFC is Keith’s only source of income. There’s more to it, than cost. None of us have any idea why this has happened. But we’re upset, that much is clear.. All the best mate. I met your pal at Gary’s wake. Nice kid.
If you look at it from a purely professional perspective, then his work over a 20 year period has been phenomenal - so he hasn't been let go due to poor performance. Perhaps someone else could do a better job - but due to the high standard of his work, this is a big ask. So purely eliminating the emotion in the decision, its still poor.
A thread about a top bloke like Keith losing his job at oakwell and some are using it to have a pop at other fans....baffling
Here’s a nice link to an interview with Keith three years ago. https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2...e caught up with,at Barnsley FC, Keith Turner.
Sorry for the chap of course. But being realistic, this happens in virtually every business these days. Change of roles, re structures, redundancies etc. Just depends on what the powers that be in the company want at that time. So yeah its crap for Keith but not inique to BFC. Seen it with my current employer 4 or 5 times in 10 yrs.
Did we find out if @YTBFC is still in a role at Oakwell? Hope he is, but is this part of the whole media resource being outsourced from a one stop shop, so to speak?
To those who are nonplussed by this decision, could you answer the following question? Do you think Keith was doing a bad job?
It wasn’t the decision as such that I was disagreeing with (although I do disagree with it). The thing I was disagreeing with, was the view that the Club can do whatever they want and don’t have to explain themselves to anyone.
From what I've seen he's done a brilliant job - The photos he took of my children when they were mascots were outstanding. I wish the guy all the best for the future.
Yeah, and it’s always crap when they’re not getting rid of the role, they’re just getting someone, presumably cheaper, in. It’s not like they no longer what photographs taking, is it? I’d have the same opinion for any anyone being replaced in this way in any job every time.
I think and stand corrected he's/was a postman. I remember having seen him once. ( might have been peak time xmas temps) and was reminded by someone this morning.
I'm not nonplussed by any stretch of the imagination, but whether or not he was doing a bad job or not is irrelevant if you have an alternative solution that is a better fit for your business and you have faith that the quality of work will be just as good/better. It may well not be and then not only can we feel like the club has betrayed a lifelong supporter, but also has degraded the quality of content we receive from the club, but until that happens it is a business decision and we do not know the reasons behind it.
