Great season. So special. & I saw Ronnie Glavin laik at Oakwell. Watch how the lads mob Heckie. Wonderful. I was laid up with stroke that season, but made it to Wembley both times..
It always blows my mind that we were bottom of the league on the 10th December, 20 games into the season, on just 18 points, and we still obtained promotion. For perspective, on the 10th December, we had 18 points and Coventry were 2nd on 39 points. We finished the season 5 points and 3 places above them. I do think more would have been made of us in the wider media, had Leicester not won the Premier League that season.
It blows my mind even more that this was essentially the same core of a team that represented at Altrincham that day in November…..
Year of the underdog. Iceland, Leicester and Barnsley. But even if we won the UCL the media wouldn't give a toss about lil old Barnsley. Or it'd be "Battling Barnsley beats Bayern. Flat caps til dawn" or summat
Yep. Watching an abject surrender to a non league side on an open terrace in p*****g down rain. Doesn’t get much lower. If someone had told me that day we’d win the JPT Final at Wembley and go back weeks later to win the play off final I’d have wanted them sectioning.
I would. I knew we were going up at the Everton game. Never lost belief because we weren't outplayed by anyone.
No its the mentality I have during the season. Even during the 2021/22 relegation season. Under Schopp I was thinking we need rid or we won't have any chance of the Play-Offs. Until targets can't be achieved my mindset doesn't change.
I got my stroke the day we lost to Shrews & was laid up til Christmas. & we had started winning. Adam had come back & I was dropping huge hints that a visit to Kendray stroke rehab would do me the world of good. That didn’t happen, but I made it to Wembley both times.
Did you hear about the flasher that broke into the old folks home? He bumped into three old ladies. Two had a stroke but the other wasn't quick enough.
It blows my mind that my parents got me a half season ticket for Christmas of this season. I didn’t see us lose a match though!
Just realised after watching that final against Millwall again remembered the absolute stone wall penalty we had turned down in the last few minutes of that game!! So that’s 2 absolute nailed on penalties turned down in our last 2 Wembley appearances!!!
