Killip received some criticism for his form during the middle of the 2022–23 season, most notably after an error in a 1–0 defeat to Stevenage when he was getting ready to kick the ball downfield without noticing that Danny Rose was behind him, allowing Rose to steal the ball and score into an empty net in the 80th minute.[20][21] Killip made his first appearance since January for the final game of the season against Stockport County, where he made several saves including a stoppage time penalty save in a 1–1 draw.[22][23] The game would be Killip's 150th appearance and his last for Hartlepool as it was announced on 15 May 2023 that he would be leaving the club after he rejected a new contract.[24]
Would have thought he'd be number two. Collins, I suspect will be gone, which is a blow. Last year of contract & not played by Duff post injury. I suspect he's off.
You got one right mate! Well done you. Your call back to me defending Obbi Oulare before he'd ever kicked a ball is a weird one though.
Completely irrelevant to my point at the time though. And anyway, my point in this thread still stands. Presumably we'll sign another keeper now, and we'll have 2 keepers fighting for the number 1 jersey.
Do you honestly think we will sign another senior goalkeeper? I love your posts but I think you're ignoring every single item of empirical evidence that has happened since the play off final.
We have to sign another keeper, surely? This lad wasn’t even first choice at relegated from the football league Hartlepool in the second half of last season
Wow, you sound really pleased. Interesting response but anyway. Right. I’ll break it down for you. Killip is replacing Isted. Isted replaced Walton. Collins hasn’t been sold without a replacement pretty much over the line. Killip isn’t taking his place in the squad as the initial ‘number one’. Now. If I’m wrong……. a) I’ll be pretty pissed off. b) you can have your moment in the sun. Broken clocks and all that.
I do. Even if it's one on loan. Here's a name you'll like, I'd go for Jamie Cumming from Chelsea. 23 year old with over 100 league games under his belt, and just named player of the season at MK Dons. Its definitely turning into a bit of a farce, but I'm not worried just yet. For me, that's only 2 first team players we've still to replace, just to get us back to the level we were at last season. We of course need to bring a few more in, and we don't know whether Collins is the man for the job, but I guess it is what it is.
Wouldn’t mind an experienced keeper. Someone who’s gonna organise as I think our defence could be quite inexperienced if we bag the lad from Halifax and the Pole we have now. One that comes to mind is Vaclav Hladcky (spelling) from Ipswich. Now 32 years old and surely would be open to a move to us. Different between Killip and an incoming keeper has to be quality. Killip might have 200 games but they’ve all been at a much lower level.
