Lots going on by looks. Truth in the rumours regarding Debrah, Bolton, Dallas and Clifton. Don't think Watters would be a bad addition on a permanent but wouldn't be that bothered about the Slob coming back personally.
I'd say Watters would want a decent wage coming down from the championship. Judging hm on his performances here last season money would be better spent elsewhere..
Probably true but he'd be a better full time signing that Slob. If reports are to be believed, he was in fact on a higher wage than Watters. Some 'sources' claim he was on 14k a week at city. They were paying basically all his wages for us last season.
Your name is Debrah, Debrah It never suited ya... Edit: Just seen im not the first to pick up on this!
I think there is better out there than both for sure. But Watters has been a decent goal scorer at this level before so wouldn't be the worst idea to have him back.
I really don't mind getting the odd non league player in, we can hopefully coach them to fit and be much better players but it would be a lot to expect 4 or 5 to fit straight in. That said its clearly where our budget is at and we need to be very tolerant with our expectations this season.
I think people are looking into the non league thing a bit too much. The polish lad is still young on a long term deal. I wouldn't be shocked to see him loaned out etc. And being used as a long term project. I doubt he's going to be a first team starter (unless he's actually brilliant). The other defender we already signed Shepherd is purely for the u23s. Then we've been linked to two others. Everyone else we've been linked to are EFL regulars and there will be loads we are in for that aren't leaked in the press that will be EFL or foreign league options. We won't have a team made up of 4 or 5 non league recruits.
That lad at Halifax looks a good prospect, still a step up so you never know, good news on Luca, not bothered about Collins, we can surely pick up a reserve keeper from higher up the ladder who's as good tbh.
Personally hope we use the loan market for at least one striker it might at least allow us to bring someone in from a higher league and help with the wages
This recruitment from non league I see more as the club's general strategy, bringing in players identified as having the potential to develop towards the 1st team. And this can be done while the new manager assesses the 1st team squad. Recruitment to actually strengthen the 1st XI has likely been delayed by the managerial upheaval as the manager is always involved in identifying what positions he wants to strengthen. There is little point in signing 1st team players while Collins is still assessing the squad and I would expect our transfer activity to pick up over the coming weeks Additionally, it isn't until the Premier League clubs confirm their squads that players who are omitted then start to look for club and this kick starts the market and then has a knock in effect all the way down the leagues.
Sorry I didn't mean they would go straight in to the starting 11...just it would take a bit to get them up to scratch. There's still a bit of time yet to get loans and others in and hopefully they will all make a decent squad.
Wasn't a direct dig at you by the way, was more of a general point as some on here been very vocal about the non league stuff. From what I have seen and read which is limited I just admit, I do think that this Debrah we are after looks good and could step up well I think. Not fully convinced about Dallas but hopefully he's just a squad player or turns out to be a hidden gem. Ideally we can get some good frees in from L1 and Championship clubs to bolster then first team.
