Hit and miss either way. Isted. Thomas And Edward's were very good loanees. One or two others not so much. I know nowt about any of the new signings to form an opinion yet.
I think Duff was our Don Saunders and hopefully Collins will be our Tony Barton. Duff implemented a lot of good that would take a total imbecile to f cu k up. I'm happy with the squad providing we sign the right players. The Saunders analogy comes from the clamour to play Jalo, Dyer, Ackroyd and Wolfe ( barring injury) last season. He resisted the urge to drop them in it at the deep end. However, he let them dip their feet nonetheless. That masterstroke might work to Collins advantage. We're crying out for options up front but Jalo and Dyer are a year leaner having had a taste of the first team action.
As much as I like Jalo. I'm not sure he is ready to take a risk on. Dyer has certainly got the presence and physique. But I was disappointed with his last few performances in the academy. Outstanding in the little cameo at Donny. Wolfe looked lost prior to his injury. But was a shining light the season before. Hope he returns to that form. I think 1 or 2 from the U21 set up may shine when given a chance. that are under the radar so to speak.
It's exciting isn't it. A real leap of faith this season. No reason to not think Collins will be another Schopp. Just don't think he will inspite of yesterday's result drawing parallels with the Man City defeat. We cancelled Watford for City and Guisely for Leeds with much the same outcome.
As things stand squad wise I’m not even sure we have enough to make the play offs. Lacking a leader at the back, not enough goals up front and generally not enough depth in the squad all over. Add in the fact that we have an unproven management team and there’s just too many unknowns right now. I think there’s a lot of sides who have strengthened significantly and it’ll be a congested battle for the top 6. Bolton, Derby, Charlton, Pompey, Posh, Reading, Wigan and Blackpool will all fancy their chances.
We’re only as good as the 11 on the field. Our current squad isn’t good enough holes at the back and lacking upfront it all depends on the recruitment. The loan system will be vital to where we end up this season.
Leeds was set up at least a week b4 the Guisley game was cancelled tbh mate. It was mentioned a while ago a game behind closed doors but not the team.
I think we can - not as strong a league as last season. No way will we have top six points total like last season
C,O,Y,R. whatever happens, there'll be plenty of ups an darns, moaning, arguing and falling out, but aving said that Wer all Barnsley Aint We, Of course we'll finish the highest team from yorkshire in league 1.
A new coach and new assistant. A significant turnover of key players in the squad. All that means it's impossible to predict. Last season it took a few months to get the squad playing to their full potential and that ultimately cost them automatic promotion. This season will be the same and a slow start may again be costly.
But would you say the league this season is significantly weaker without Wednesday, Plymouth & Ipswich? Plus Reading start on a points deduction, Wigan aren’t great, & Blackpool aren’t great either.
