..now I appreciate this is a Twitter rumour so tin-hat at the ready; apparently they both refused to play yesterday because of offers from the Championship. Styles I’d expect this from, Kitching; the Captain? Absolutely not….
If rumours are to be believed, Coventry have offered the triple kitchings wages and styles is refusing to train.
If so they should be sanctioned based on whatever their contracts say. Sounds a bit dodgy though to be honest.
Kitching signed a deal with us recently so unless Coventry are going to offer us a decent figure, it would be a no go for me. I know they suddenly have a bit of money in their back pocket but surely they’ll be replacing the departing striker rather than buying a league 1 centre back? Styles I fully expect to leave so can sort of understand us not playing him. The sooner his situation gets sorted the better for all parties.
Too much player power these days. Unfortunately they shouldn't be able to dictate what they want and when they play. Styles I may have expected this from but not Kitching.
Just don't even consider Styles as an option for us since he went to Miiiiwwwaaaaawwww, so get shut at the first half-decent offer. Kitching though - no, knackers to that. The club needs to grow a pair and say no, until a club somewhere make a panic bid for stupid money.
I love Kitch but he's never looked particularly steady at Championship level. He still has his moments in L1. His marauding runs upfield are awesome, but that sort of thing can get punished mercilessly in the Championship and higher. Even John Stones still gets caught out occasionally, albeit at a higher level still, but anyway I digress. The point is, under normal circumstances I'd be more than satisfied with £3 million for Kitching. I think that's the top end of his current market value. However, to us, having just lost Mads, and what he gives the team at L1 level, I think he's actually worth far more than that. Knowing that Coventry have a bit of cash to splash, I'd be holding out for £5 million. However, if I was a Cov fan and my team spunked that amount on Kitching, I'd probably be mightily displeased.
Kitching has just signed a three year deal with option for a fourth so unless they come in with a figure around 5 million it's a no go and I would be saying that to kitching as well. If he refuses to play fine the player his wages and he will eventually change is mind. He could sit in our reserves for a full year and we still wouldn't be worse off on his value.
We're BFC, £1.5m for Kitching and the board will cream their pants and let him go. We've never been able to drive a hard bargain.
Too much player power and too much to lose for the club. If Kitching no longer wants to be involved then he will be sold. Styles I'd expect this behaviour from but not Kitching. Let's hope the rumours are just that and nowher near the truth.
Just get Simpson to knock sone sense into him! Seriously, I can't see this being true. However, given all the cloak and dagger stuff at Oakwell you can see how rumours start. Why is everything behind closed doors?
