Maybe. Or that it makes sense to sell him now v lose him for nothing/even less in 6 months. We knew when we lost at Wembley he'd be gone. I don't think it's a real surprise.
If the first half of your first sentence is true, I suspect the second half of that sentence can't be true.
I am not sure how that explains to me how the fans actually treated him, expecting him like we did with Mads to leave is not an example of treatment more an explanation of realism I would have thought , I also expect Styles to leave but that is just how I read the situation not some kind of treatment of the lad , although I hope I am wrong , would love him to stay
Duff has really screwed us over with keepers sold Walton last year and replaced him with a loan keeper then preceded to piss Collins off to the extent the previously loyal keeper did one at the first opportunity to get out by playing the loan keeper and killed the deal to permanently sign the loan keeper Istead by buggering off to Swansea at a crucial moment in the potential Istead signing.
Some fans treated him poorly by downplaying his quality and achievements and by fawning over Isted as though he was the messiah, whilst I think in reality there was very little between them and Brad had been a great servant to the club. I think this was probably not a majority of fans but a significant portion of the fan base who were quite vocal on social media.
I am sure professional sportsmen would take no notice of twitter or any other social media outlets, they are vehicles for keyboard warriors to spout vile etc & to behonest half the time I would suspect that some of the posters are herberts from other clubs & not even fans just wind up merchants ,but everyone has their own opinion on players but thats all they are just opinions.
I think various players have been affected by social media, and I think because it appeared to match Duff’s assessment of the situation it might have hurt all the more. Perhaps he started to believe it himself? Anyway he’s gone and we need a keeper. And a centre back. And probably a striker. And a wing back who can play either side of possible.
I think the fact we actually tried to sign Isted probably tells it’s own story that Collins was always moving on this summer regardless.
Lowered the value of both our own keepers, the loanee doesn't even sign up, and we find ourselves without all 3 and trying to find an adequate keeper fast.
