Anderson and Collins - excellent buys in the long run Diaby and Wilks - Let us down massively Chaplin - Came good, but only once he'd left Sibbick and Thomas - What could have been
I thought Thomas lacked bottle and was indecisive. Would make a great footballer if he made his mind up what to do with the ball earlier.
Patrick schmidt 1.2 million got to be up there with the biggest waste of money ever in bfc history. Anonymous 95% of games and now kicking g a ball in austrias 2nd tier.
If he'd have scored any of those sitters he missed v QPR in Vals first game he'd have been a fixture in the side.
Quick thinking under pressure might be something you just can't teach. Always the wrong end product. Of course it will all click into place now he's left and he'll tear up the league for Bristol Rovers.
There was an article that someone translated on here when he left, had something crazy like a top half finish doubled his original transfer fee. Shows exactly what kind of a chancer Conway was, no other club would agree on a clause like that. Crazy.
You can't argue the signing of Patrick Schmidt was a disappointment but his contributions were invaluable during the 19/20 season: Home to Bristol City: last minute assist to help secure a point Away to Millwall: last minute winner Home to Nottingham Forest: last minute winner Away to Brentford: last minute assist to win the game Those contributions equate to an extra 7 points.
I am amazed that anyone can take the transfer fees mentioned as factual when all we ever get his " fee undisclosed " , p.s I thought Schmidt never got a fair crack of the whip , the lad looked like he had potential & scored some vital goals but never got a run in the team & never kicked on , shame because he would have been ideal for this season .
I think Chaplin was good for us, and certainly helped keep us up. And if we'd have kept him in league 1 last season maybe we could have got up automatically?
The total cost of the incomings over the 2019/20 season was £6,319,858. The break down is not included within the accounts but it gives an idea of the money that the board at the time were prepared to pay out hoping to hit lucky on the transfer fees coming back in.
They sold the 18/19 promotion side to fund it though. Tried to do too much much in one window where as a more gradual approach would probably have succeeded
