Our best midfielder? It’s a game of opinions but I don’t see it, I really don’t. He’s steady enough and he’s in my first eleven (assuming styles is sold) but he’s as predictable as the weather in the Sahara. Get ball, step over/Cruyff turn til facing backwards, then a backwards or sideways pass. Was the weakest of the midfield three last season, and most weeks Phillips was missing most of the game but popped up with enough goals and assists to make up for it. He’s not in the same world as Connell, never mind the same league. As for him being our best midfielder, wow. He’s the one of the three we can most afford to lose i’d say. Not that I want to lose him, but still.
Williams isn’t a midfielder and Cadden isn’t in the same league as Kane. To be fair, neither is Phillips. Really like Connell obviously and he has the potential to be a top Championship player. Only 22 and will get better and better. Kane for me is more consistent throughout the season and doesn’t come in and out of games as much as Luca. Games of opinions and I really rate Connell and Kane at this level. Despite my criticism of Phillips, he’s also very good at this level. Need Benson to get back to fitness and we have the best midfield in League 1 whichever way you look at it in terms of who’s best.
