You sound surprised. It was never going to happen. Just PR to take emphasis away from their relegation. Just like their green gimmick.
How is a female manager going to be when they walk round the changing room seeing players with their tackle out? Suing for sexual harassment every time she sees an hairy arsehole.
Maybe ask one of the many female physios how they cope? Probably not one of the world’s most insurmountable problems tbh.
I've never known an interim / caretaker manager announced pre-season, it's always midway through the season when a manager leaves or is sacked, and someone needs to come in to pick the team for competitive games until a permanent replacement is announced. When Long Haul left we didn't announce Devaney as 'Interim Manager' (see also the departures of Asbaghi, Val, Struber etc.). Hannah Dingley will have been 'in post' for 16 days and taken training and a couple of pre-season friendlies. It's clear PR from Vince, who saw an opportunity to be 'the first men's club in world football to appoint a female Head Coach' and took it. It's patronising at best for Vince to suggest that for Hannah 'it’s undoubtedly been a valuable experience and a big step on her career path'. He has a big ego and you can't deny his astuteness as a businessman.
For ***** sake, and we wonder why northern working class areas have a reputation for being backward. This is the same club who sang ‘get your tits out’ to an opposition team’s female physio when our own head physio is female. Maybe as someone who has worked for years in men’s football the mere sight of a hairy arsehole and a few cocks in a place men will be required to be getting changed doesn’t constitute harassment to her? (Like it doesn’t by law either). Maybe as an adult with a mature outlook she doesn’t find nudity in itself to necessarily have sexual connotation? Plenty of professions necessitate the occasional viewing of nude persons including their genitalia. I’m not too sure physios, sports coaches, medical professionals, beauty therapists, tattooists and whoever else feel the need to claim they are being sexually harassed just because someone happens to be naked. I’m sure Vikki Stevens has seen plenty in her time at our club. I’m just as sure it’s bothered her not one bit as well.
Radical I know, but is it possible that the workplace changes so the men don't walk around with their tackle out? I'm pretty sure that's the policy where I work, but tbf I mainly work remotely these days so it is possible that I've missed the nudity at some of the engineering meetings?
‘Everyone’ probably isn’t. If the sight of a naked body offends somebody, it’s not that difficult to take steps to avoid doing so. But for people who work in a profession where nudity is a daily occurance and a necessity, it’s a bit of a non-event, they most probably don’t even think about it. I’d suggest professionals like Hannah Dingley and Vikki Stevens are very likely to be in that camp.
Unfortunately, I quite agree with you - I understand she was named caretaker, but as you say, it's extremely rare pre-season, so in this case I think you're right about it being a PR stunt. Which in my opinion, is a massive shame - women these days watch as much football as any blokes. You see more & more families, young girls, aunties, grandmas etc all going. Not only is it brilliant to see, but it kinda feels like we're alienating 50% of the population due to their chromosomes. I'd hate to think we didn't get the right person for the job just because she doesn't have a todger. There shouldn't be a 'stigma' around it. A couple of months ago some lads on here & social media accused a female referee of being crap due to her gender, I'd absolutely Kevin Keegan-esque love it if we appointed a female manager and they were the one to get us promoted to the premier league
