No. Not without a better squad but there’s still time to sort it.

Cotter can’t start at wing back from what I’ve seen so far.

All the doom mongers will say we’re in for a tough season but that line up is miles better than a lot of teams in this league. Carlisle, Bristol Rovers, Cambridge, Burton, Cheltenham, Exeter, port vale, Leighton orient, Stevenage, Northampton and Shrewsbury would all be envious of any of those players for a start.

I don't want to be just better than the teams who'll finish bottom half of the table. If thats what competing means, then yes, we'll compete.
But we should be looking to escape this league, automatically preferably.
The team as it is now won't do that.
    Still time tho.....

    More likely:-

    Killip
    Lopata Cundy Kitching
    Williams Russell Connell Kane Cadden
    Cole Norwood

    Subs
Searle, McCarthy (or u21 if unfit), Cotter,
    Ackroyd, Shaw, Jalo/Dyer

Not sure if I’ve missed anyone but that is one weak match day squad.

We're not. He's just making the point that it's a decent enough squad already, and one which will be much stronger once added to.

I think it would be a top half side but we should be aiming for more than that - a few shrewd additions and, provided Collins is a good manager, we could enjoy a similar points haul to last season

We’re good enough to at least make a start and if we hovered around the top ten for a few months that wouldn’t be too bad. Big push after January, with a couple of quality additions, will see us in the top 3 or 4

Weaker than last season by some distance, for me. IMO it would take another exceptional coach and a lot of luck with injuries and suspensions, for our current first team squad to make top 6.
