Friendlies were arranged prior to appointing a head coach. The head coach now installed doesn't believe playing this game will be of benefit to the team. He is also strong enough a leader to ensure the schedule that is of most benefit is followed even when that involves cancelling arrangements. I don't see any shambles here.
Bit of an odd take for me. Whether they are arranged prior to the new coach or not, its as competitive as it gets before the season starts for him to actually put into practice what they have been working on?
I'm sure there's an Ian McMillan poem being readied... Silence on Grove Street: The Night Before. Twas the night before Port Vale, when all through the street Not a creature was stirring: no presser, no heat. The jerseys were hung in the club shop with care, In hopes that St Khaled soon would be there.
Doesn't matter who or why this is because of, it's very bad form. Again. Why are we determined to sabotage the pre-season preparations of local teams, not to mention their fan and staff concerns, with hardly any notice? I don't know how much we should worry about the bigger picture. But Collins arriving aside, this has been a pretty awful pre-season.
It sounds to me that this was mainly a 2nd XI, i.e. the U21s, and Collins is saying he would rather they work with the first team, to see who can step up. I'm OK with that.
Mmmm imho...I'm slightly concerned. There's training, which anyone can do then ...there's game time putting all the said attributes into practice and gaining game time and game fitness. I just hope we aren't behind everyone else.....two weeks to go and all that.
Yet the article says he wants those that was due to be involved to stay with the main group instead that suggests there wasn’t gonna be many starters going.
If it was an isolated incident then I think I'd be fine - but on top of the previously cancelled friendly and the administrative situation then it's all adding up.
You really think the "big news" that was said will happen at some point this season (not before the season as some seem to think it would...) would be admin? Why would he advertise that?
Because they would benefit more from training with the main group. Which to me insinuates they're like to be involved with the main group ahead of the season. Lack of incomings, so get to know the kids instead.
Not what you said though, you said it should be played cos it’s as close to a match as it can get 2 different things.
