I think it unfair to cancel at short notice. However, I suppose if I was new into a job and didn't have as long a pre season as other clubs I'd want to do things my way and if that involved more training than matches then that's that. I don't think Collins has that big a job though, we finished last season in a good place, he shouldn't be starting from scratch surely?
Just a thought boys and girls. If someone did know something, but knew they’d never find out anything from the club again if they disclosed it, then they’d be unlikely to disclose it. They might, if they knew something, confirm that it didn’t involve administration or a change of ownership if it wasn’t related to that perhaps. They’d also not be likely to say what the thing was if they’d only heard a whisper or just had an inkling, but didn’t want to abuse the trust that have from people within the club by jumping the gun. All that in mind it might be worth accepting that there’s very little difference between whether someone doesn’t know or just can’t say, as we won’t be told until the club choose to tell us. Stop asking. It’s not really fair.
I don’t know what it is for certain but ‘I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t a new long term ground lease securing our future at Oakwell that comes with finance for substantial ground improvements. As Khaled has stated fans should be happy about it, that would seem to rule out administration. I don’t think we are currently in such a financial position and don’t see our current board allowing us to go into admin either.
Fair enough Lil, I was just asking for genuine clarity, but I'll leave it at that. I don’t want to make anyone feel awkward etc, just confused me a bit. I hope Khaled announces soon, I know that we are inadvertently being asked to be patient in an inpatient world, but I think some good news would be good after what I'd personally call the Summer of Silence. I appreciate there may be a reason why Khaled can't say what it is yet, but I'm disappointed at the comms lately to be honest with you mate. The season ticket saga, and the sad case of the BFC photographer and lack of explanation behind it, is poor. We're better than that as a club, and we've displayed that in the past. Also the limited comms around pre-season and the new manager have been unusual. I find silence often leads to unwelcomed speculation.
Thank you mate. As you head up the supporters trust I know you will be privy to certain things ahead of time, so to clarify I wasn't coming from that angle. Appreciate the explanation.
Just in regard to the big news .....our ceo told us in a round about way that it was news worthy of backing the club and "wanting to get on board". So imho and I have no evidence of this, it must be something that has been delayed....PR wise you would want to feed the public with as much good stuff to sell merchandise and more match day tickets....and hopefully invest this money into the playing squad.
I know! I was just meaning my asking you if you did know wasn't some attempt at an accusation even if you did (i.e. I wasn't asking so I could say 'why do you know and we don't' if you did know), it was just to get clarity on past comments. Peace
Good job I benefitted from divine intervention (the postman!) and didn't press the button to complete the purchase of train tickets yesterday then. Shame for anyone who already had. I'm all for Collins determining how best to use his limited pre-season time, it makes sense, but surely someone could have checked with him before advertising the game less than 48 hours previous?
Local friendly (live in Mansfield) booked with friends and family in Mansfield ... A few of us took the day off work, to make a day of it. Absolutely gutted. I'm certainly not a happy clapper but rarely get annoyed with the club. This has absolutely pi55ed me off. I accept the explanation. But like others have said, this WASN'T advertised as a reds XI. Disgraceful by the club. I'm fuming.
