Please enlighten me as to what success Peterboro have had with all their masses of cash, they have had the odd season in the championship but few and far between but they are championed as the model to follow, I don"t get it ,but my take is they have a chairman who plays the the PR game all the time & I dont believe he would lie straight in bed & take all these alleged fees with a pinch of salt .
Is this pre season really that much worse than any others? Last season morale was really low after such an abjective relegation season, at this point we had a new Manager with very few signings. The season before we had a new Manager, very few signings and half the club never mind the team had left and morale must have been poor in the club generally. when was last pre season where we had a full or virtually full squad few weeks before kick off?
But it should be a full squad 5 weeks before the season starts, it happens at lower levels than the old third division, players are then added were required or replaced if sold, not having ago at the Club but come on Pre Season should give us a solid foundation to work from
Transfer window opened June 14th Season starts 6th August 7 weeks Contracts normally run till June 30th for frees They generally take the highest wage offer. We lost our manager We replaced him in a short period of time. Signings are being made but any other targets may be talking to several clubs. Agents screw it up for em touting em around. And lots end up on the scrap heap or lower down than anticipated. Might be the case for the Halifax lad. Players may take the first offer as it may be the only one they'll get. If not. read last paragraph. Some teams especially those on a very low budget target them players and get em in quick. Hence happens at lower levels in the main. Another example. Bobby targeted the Burnley lad afore anyone else jumped in. As he was on a free. Pretty sure one or two clubs in financial difficulties would have signed him up for the first team. If hes as good as reports say, he may get in ours sooner rather than later .
All I’m saying is Pre Season is for building foundations for the coming season is there any wonder team’s struggle that aren’t prepared
So if they don't sign him up he leaves on the cheap and it's a stick used to beat the club/board. They sign him up in the hope of getting the best price when he leaves and that's a stick to beat the club/board. Exactly what outcome would you prefer?
No don’t get me wrong it’s a positive and the club are in the right to try and maximise any future income, especially so soon after Mads leaving. in a summer when everything seems like it’s bad news after bad news I didn’t necessarily see it as him staying long term, not there is such a thing in football but come January he may be gone irrespective of how well we do.
