BFC say 'We have 82 spaces available, we as a club feel that this is an acceptable offering.'

What the fk is an 'acceptable offering' and to who is the 'acceptable offering' made -- what about the many fans with disabilities who the Club can't/wont accommodate ?

Talk about patronising/excluding disabled people !

I've had a South Stand season ticket for years now. Towards the end of last season I was getting fed up with them not marshalling where cars were parking and having people block off the section towards the upper gate by reversing into the end of the rows, leaving a big empty space behind that no-one could then access.

Rather than fix this, and various other issues, they've essentially doubled down and made it even less of an option by essentially advising a lock-out 30 minutes before kick-off. Travelling from Leeds, I don't always have the luxury of landing within that window, especially for evening games, and quite often the last mile of the journey has taken longer than the rest of it due to the traffic management around the ground.

Luckily, I'd left renewing my ticket until the last minute, as there's no incentive to buy early. Unlike you, it seems, I still have the option to not bother renewing, and they've just sold it to me with that announcement. I guess it's time to investigate alternative options.

I'm not quite sure what the brief for the article was, but the fact that they've managed to achieve 'defensive tone about a problem no-one actually knew existed', in terms of the comments about disabled spaces, is quite the achievement.

What happened to keeping away fans behind to allow the majority of attendance(home fans)to clear the area. Things were much simpler before health and safety went mad

Half the time there'll be a wait for 3 coaches to disappear. That's not worth a bag of popcorn (which is dreadful food anyway).

So counterterrorism is used for a reason for these changes. Surely on the same note streets such as Oakwell Lane should therefore be shut to reduce the likelihood of some nutter in a car wiping large numbers of spectators out.

What an awful piece of communication.

Firstly they took money and a lot of it and only afterwards decided to make big changes. That's ****.

Secondly the wording of that statement is absolutely horrendous. Comes across as deliberately trying to piss off fans. I wonder why?

Thirdly. What kind of terrorist hotbed is Oakwell that we have to have more stringent rules forced in us than bloody Heathrow airport?

And lastly. It's pathetic that away fans have been prioritised over people who are the lifeblood of the club and what the actual **** have coaches in the north stand got to do with the south stand carpark? If the idea is that away coaches will now travel past all the home fans on grove Street then that makes a mockery of any health and safety claims.

Honestly those in charge at bfc are not competent to run a public facing company and should bugger off and get a behind the scenes job in the financial district somewhere.

The communication at Oakwell is at an all time low. It has been since a certain someone was set on as CEO.

Maybe the intention IS to piss people off and deter them from parking at Oakwell itself.

Exactly. Not really an issue in L1 for us.

And it’s safer for the away fans too - less chance of them being stuck in traffic around the stadium and having the windows put through etc.

Well, considering the current climate, they should in some ways be pushing for the use of more sustainable transport for those who can.

Not saying this is the answer, but ALL big blue chip companies try and encourage alternative uses.

Last two matches of the season had the carpark locked up for over an hour while away fans strolled down grove Street

I hope they don't escort away fans out like they did Bolton fans in the play off match. Coaches all outside the back of the east stand at kicking out time.

It wasn't exactly the same that was said, now let's be fair.

"We have 82 spaces available, we as a club feel that this is an acceptable offering"

    Or was it........?

Sad state of affairs. But you have to rock up at Birmingham or Villa with coaches 1and half hrs afore kick off. before roads are shut off. Else you are dropped off and have to walk in. Been like that for several years. For the same reason. I think the Bolton game raised issues as well. Fighting outside the east stand after the game. One or two said handbags and another said fans were jumping off the busses to engage in fighting.

Anyone know how many parking spaces we have in total?

Government guidelines (Inclusive Mobility published by DfT) recommend that 6% of parking should be allocated to disabled people, unless otherwise covered by local planning regulations.
