We need to take a page out of Bradford's book when dealing with us over Lewis. That's the price, pay it or fc uk off. If they want Norwood, it's a million or see ya.
I agree. He is under contract to us. Quote them £5 million and let them haggle. I think that they ought to be pressing Man U for a decent loanee at United's expense after their goalie trashed Mullin. Encourage them to take that route instead. They only need a loanee until Mullin is fit again
As I understand it the average instalment period is 2 years, but can depend on the size of the first ‘down payment’ Also heard the bigger the initial payment from the buying club can bring the initial asking price down
Would you call Bannan a league 1 midfielder if he'd been sold last season? I'd say Mads is a championship defender as he played most of his English football career in the championship.
If we're going to be quoting 7 figure fees for Norwood, we should also offer him a contract extension. Otherwise he will rightly be annoyed at being priced out of a move that could secure his future beyond this season.
6th highest ever apparently. Paddy McNair highest at £5.7m. Highest ever - just under £10m for Fabian Delph.
Don’t think Delph was a L1 player when he left Leeds? Paddy never played in L1 either left Sunderland when relegated
not quite sure I get the question tbh. at the time we sold mads he was a league 1 defender. that's not me trying to be controversial, it's just a fact innit? it works both ways though. he's now a PL defender. either way I wouldn't have called him a championship defender last season, and wouldn't call him one this season
Delph was a League One player with L**ds: McNair was with a League one side, Sunderland, but I think you're right - sold before the season started.
TV revenue in the prem. Is paid in monthly instalments. Surprisingly. Parachute payments are paid in full at the start of a season.
Maybe it's me then. I tend to rank them on where they've played most of their football, or the highest they've achieved. To me, Mads is a championship standard defender as opposed to say Kitching who's league 1.
But it does matter how old he is because no one in their right mind is paying 2 million for a player who's almost 33 and never played above league one. Unless a Saudi team come in for him. If Wrexham pay 500k its 500k they most likely won't get back. I would just keep him but we do have 3 other strikers who will want to play every game and he may want to leave... or the rumor maybe just ********.
Folk bandying this five strikers thing about as if we have five proven league 1 strikers. We don't, we have Norwood and that's it. We have Cole who is decent at home but has 1 goal away from Oakwell since last September and that at the bottom of the league rubbing rags. We have Watters who may come decent but at the moment needs to rekindle his career after a lack-lustre couple of years. Then we have two with little or no record at this level who most indications point to them being out of their depth. None of the other four fit together in a logical starting pairing either. Selling Nors would be dumb.
I don't think he could be rightly annoyed at all. he's a professional footballer and has just signed a new 12-month contract. he should be expected to honour it, and the only way he should be allowed to exit that, is if it benefits us. just like if he breaks his leg on Saturday and is out for the season, we'll still be expected to honour his contract and pay his wages. do I think he's worth 2m? definitely not. that's not my point though. he's one of the few exceptions in the team, where we offered him a new contract with no expectation of resale value. wrexham are dripping with gold. so if we let him go it has to be 100% on our terms. for me those terms would include a guaranteed replacement, at least as good as the one we're letting go. however much that costs. I have no plan and don't need to sell my house. if someone knocked on my door and offered me market value to sell it, I wouldn't accept. I would only consider selling if the offer was absolutely worth my while. I'd want all my fees paying, I'd want compensating for all the hassle of selling a house and I'd want a new house that was guaranteed to be as good if not better than the one I already have. otherwise I'm absolutely happy with what I've got.
The Mads fee may well be 3.5 million pounds/euros, but how much of that do we have to pay his former club as part of any sell on clause?
He got 1 in 4 for us last year. Good player, like him a lot, but we've just signed Watters perm, have loan market to go at and ultimately I pretty much guarantee JN isn't here in the 24/25 season. We've got problems at the bank & if someone wants to give us some cash for him I think we'd be delighted.
